A Gypsum Wall Board System Plastering/Finishing Inspection

Interior plastering with gypsum plaster or cement plaster shall not be less
than three coats when applied over metal lath or wire fabric lath SAES-M-100

and shall not be less than two coats when applied over concrete or Sec. D

Gypsum plaster shall not be applied directly to fiber insulation board and

The finished thickness of gypsum plaster shall be 15.9mm (5/8")

(1/2") minimum when applied over gypsum lath or masonry walls and a SAES-M-100

maximum thickness of 15.9mm (5/8") applied to monolithic concrete Sec. D
walls or 9.5mm (3/8") on monolithic concrete ceilings.

The finished thickness of Portland cement plaster shall be 15.9mm (5/8")


minimum where applied to expanded metal lath; 19.1mm(3/4") minimum
over wire fabric lath; 22mm (7/8") minimum applied to exterior gypsum

A4 lath; 12.7mm(1/2") minimum when applied to masonry walls, a maximum

of 22mm(7/8") applied to monolithic concrete walls and a maximum of

Should ceiling surfaces require thicker coating of plaster than listed in

out to grounds and straightened to a true surface, leaving a rough
