CATHOLIC WOMEN
On September 4th, “Catholic Women and Friends” will begin a weekly
study on the New Testament book, Romans. Grow in your faith and meet
other Catholic women every Thursday morning at 9:45am in the hall.
Madonna Circle will have their first meeting on Thurs., Sept. 4th at the
home of Susan H. If interested in joining our group, come and meet
other mom’s of school aged kids once a month for fellowship and great

College Moms Group will resume their monthly meetings this Tues.

First Friday Faith and Friends is back! This year the theme will be
“Exploring our Faith.” Join us on First Fridays, beginning Sept. 5th for
9am mass, study afterwards and a pizza lunch. Our guest lecturer will be
Dr. Ruth Queen Smith. Join us to laugh, learn and make new friends.

We are exploring the possibility of a gardening guild with monthly
speakers that will meet after the 12:10pm mass on the second Monday of

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Our first meeting will be Tues., Sept. 3rd, 7:30pm in the Ed. Bldg. Fr.
Ragan will be our guest and will update us on the work of the various
Catholic Charities agencies. New members are encouraged to attend.
We meet the first Tues. of each month at 7:30pm. If you are interested in

even if you are unable to attend the meetings.
FAITH FORMATION
Grades 1-8 Parent and Student Open House, Wed., Sept. 17 (grades
1-5 at 6:30pm and grades 6-8 at 7:30pm). Classes begin Sept. 24.
Four and five year old program: So far there are 55 children enrolled
in the program. If you have not received an e-mail confirmation from
Karen M., your child has not been registered so please re-email. Please
feel free to call Karen at [# omitted]. Classes begin Sept. 21.
It’s time to think about going back to Rel. Ed. and along with that it’s
time to think of teaching! We need teachers for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
classes. Classes are held on Wed. nights from 8-8:45pm. If there aren’t
enough teachers, some students will have to be taught at home. If you

The High School Rel. Ed. Program is in need of adult facilitators.
Volunteers need to be at least 21 years old and have the ability to work
closely with teens and other adults and be willing to attend Virtus
Training Class. The program meets on Sunday evenings from 6-8pm.

RENEW Season 2 – The Sacraments: Wanted! Facilitators! If you
facilitated last year or are interested in leading a small group this year,
please call Dave or Barbara W. at [# omitted] and let them know if you
can help. Facilitator refresher training will be offered on Sept. 13 from 1-
3:30pm at St. Thomas the Apostle in Lenoir City or Sept. 17 from 6:30-
9pm at Sacred Heart gym.
Sign-ups will be held September 6-7. First session: Week 1 of 6 starts
the week of Oct. 5. It’s not too early to consider where and when you
can meet.
LITURGY COMMITTEE
EARLY NOTICE: Children’s Choir will begin their new season with a
practice on Wed., Sept. 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm in the church. Our first
mass is Sun., Sept. 7th at 10am. Anyone is welcome to join our group.
Feel free to come by and try it out. We lead mass on the 1st and 3rd

LADIES OF CHARITY
The Ladies of Charity Thrift Shop is in need of men’s clothing and
shoes.
All ladies are invited to the Annual Fall Mass and Luncheon on Sept.
12 at Holy Ghost parish. The day will begin with a rosary at 9:30am
followed by Mass at 10am. There will be a brief reflection on “Service”
by Msgr. Mankel. As Holy Ghost celebrates the 100th anniversary of
their founding, we plan to honor the dedication and commitment of the
women of Holy Ghost who through 66 years of volunteering at Ladies of
Charity served the needy of this area. A general meeting will be
followed by a hearty luncheon. For planning purposes, please RSVP to

A teen decided not to go to college. He convinced his parents to give
him the money that it would have cost to send him to college for four
years. He then took the money and retired on it!
