Follow these steps to update to the firmware:

Extract the files in the zip file into a new directory. Run the Apex Flash Utili
ty.exe application.
If running the Apex Flash loader on system not running Windows see the 'Non-Mico
soft Support' section
below.
Enter the file name or browse to the firmware update file (default is aqua4.he
x)
Enter the ip address of the AquaController Apex in the Network Address text bo
x.
Enter the Http server port into the http port text box.
Click the Update Firmware Button.
The firmware update should take about 15 seconds.
After the firmware update confirm that the firmware new revision is shown on t
he selftest menu of the
Apex display.
NOTE: The firmware update will not work if the Apex base module is connected to
your network through
a wireless bridge. It is best to have the Apex base module hardwired to t
he Router/Ethernet
switch. Also the bootloader in the Apex will only update the firmware if t
he Apex Flash
utility PC and the Apex unit are on the same subnet.
If you have trouble updating the firmware, please email the log on the bottom of
the window to
support@neptunesys.com.

Beginning with version 3.3 of the Apex firmware uploader you will be able to upd
ate the Apex family
of products from non-Microsoft platforms.
Requirements:
* Installed version of Mono, available for download at http://mono-project.com.
Mono is a cross-platform
(open source) version of .NET and is available for many Microsoft and non-Micros
oft platforms. The Apex
firmware update utility has been tested with Mono version 2.6.1 on Macintosh OS
X 10.6.
To run the Apex Flash Utility, open a terminal screen and type in:
mono "apex flash utility.exe"
* Macintosh OS X requires super user privelage in order to create an entry in th
e Address Resolution Protocol
(ARP) table. This entry is needed in order to open communications between the
Apex firmware uploader and
the Apex base unit. The Apex firmware upload application will detect that this
condition and supply
information for manual entry of the ARP table entry (details below). It is like
ly that other mono
environments may have simular requirements and if so the information provided he
re and by the Apex firmware
upload applicatino should be used to add the entry for the particular OS environ
ment you are running.
Manual creation of ARP table entry
Open a terminal session and enter the command specific to your OS environment to
list ARP entries. For the
Macintosh this command is:
arp -a
You will be shown a list of addresses and associated Media Access Control addres
s (MAC) addresses.
From this list you should see an entry for the machine you are running on and yo
u may see an entry for
the Apex and other network accessible resources. In order to manually create th
e correct entry for the
Apex boot loader mode you will need to identify the Apex or machine address and
use the information to
build the Apex boot loader entry.
Take the address close to the Apex's address and change the last octet/value in
order to make the new
address for the Apex boot loader; be sure to choose an address that is not in us
e (changing one of the
1st 3 octets would likely leave the uploader unable to communicate with the Apex
and the upload to fail).
Once you select an address to be used you will need to assign the address to the
Apex boot loader's MAC
address of '0c:1d:12:e0:1f:10' (all Apex units answer to the same MAC address wh
en running under the boot loader).
For the Macintosh the command will look simular to the following:
SUDO arp s <some unused address> c:1d:12:e0:1f:10
