Blow the cracks and treated surface with oil free air to
ensure complete removal of all dust and loose particles.
Ensure that the surfaces are blown dry.
In the presence of running water the flow must be stopped
using Nitofill WS60 which produces a rapid setting
waterstopping foam. When the water is stopped the
cracks are re-injected with Nitofill UR63 (see separate
data sheets for these products).
All cracks must be sealed with Nitokit Surface Sealant,
and injection nipples located in place prior to commencing
the injection works.
Mixing the surface sealant
Nitokit Surface Sealant is a two component epoxy resin
paste supplied in the correct proportions ready for mixing.
To promote easier mixing, it is recommended that both
components are removed from their individual packs and
mixed on a clean flat surface.
Mix both components together till a homogeneous mixture
is obtained, it is important that the material is intermixed
thoroughly and that no traces of unmixed material remain,
the total mixing time is approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
Application of the surface sealant
Immediately following mixing, apply the compound to the
surface cracks using a spatula, palette knife, trowel or
other suitable means. Overlap the cracks on both sides
by 15 to 20 mm with the objective of forming a band of
sealant 30 to 40 mm wide at 2 to 3 mm in thickness.
Use the sealant to bond on the injection nipples supplied,
these should be located over the cracks taking care not to
block the injection points with the sealant.
The location of the injection nipples is dependent upon the
width and depth of the cracks to be sealed, the distance
between nipples should generally be 200 to 500 mm (i.e.
for wide deep cracks, allow 500 mm spacing, for fine
cracks allow 200 mm spacing).
Fit nipples to both sides of any section which exhibits
cracking all the way through, nipples at the near being
located at midway points between those at the front.

Allow the sealant to cure for at least 8 hours at 35 C prior
to commencing the injection works. At lower temperatures
the cure time will be extended.
Application of the injection resin
Pierce the end of the hardener tube with a sharp pointed
tool, cut the end from one of the plastic hoses provided
and fix the hose securely over the end of the hardener
tube.
Pierce the seal on the threaded end of the resin cartridge
and then fix the nozzle end of the hose to the resin
cartridge, so that resin and hardener tubes are connected
by the hose.

Slowly invert the tube of hardener so that it empties
completely into the resin cartridge, please note: if the
hardener tube is emptied too quickly spillage will occur.
Remove the tube and empty hardener component and
close the resin cartridge with one of the plastic caps
supplied. Mix the contents by slowly inverting the
cartridge 30 times, do not shake vigorously as this will
introduce unwanted air into the cartridge.
Insert the cartridge of mixed material into the injection
gun. Ensure there are sealing rings at both ends of the
hose connections, attaching one end firstly to the nipple
and secondly to the cartridge. Injection should commence
without delay using the mixed material within the
recommended pot life.
Commence injection from the lowest nipple, this is
particularly important when treating vertical cracks,
injection should continue until the resin begins to flow out
of the adjacent nipple, at this point disconnect the hose
and close off the first nipple with one of the plastic caps
provided.
The hose should then be connected to the next nipple in
line and injection again commenced, injection should
continue until the resin flows from the next nipple. Repeat
this process until the entire length of the crack has been
injected.
Where cracks have penetrated through the section and
nipples are placed on both sides, it may be necessary to
inject through the nipples on the reverse side if full resin
penetration is not achieved, this will be confirmed by a
visual check of the reverse nipples for resin flow.
Upon completion of the injection works allow the system to
cure.
Making good
Remove the nipples and make good any holes or voids
with Nitokit Surface Sealant and allow to cure. The Nitokit
Surface Sealant can be ground off or softened with a blow
lamp and peeled off. Do not allow to burn.
Cleaning
Nitokit and Nitokit Surface Sealant should be removed
from tools, equipment and mixers with Fosroc Solvent 102
immediately after use. Hardened material can only be
removed mechanically.
Limitations
Nitokit is only to be used in dry or damp concrete or
masonry. Nitokit should not be used on live cracks or
where further movement is expected. In these cases
contact the local Fosroc office. Nitokit should not be used
in the presence of running water. In these cases Nitofill
WS60 or Nitofill UR63 should be used. If doubts arise
concerning temperature, application or substrate
conditions, consult the local Fosroc office.
