POS Software Engineer

I. Purpose
Balance Innovations is seeking an experienced POS Developer with strong application programming
experience in the POS environment to join our software development team. This individual will lead and help
build the foundation for Balance Innovations’ current and future product offerings. We are seeking a self
motivated individual who can work in a team environment and possess strong analytical and communication
skills with a proven success record. Knowledge of one or more of the major POS vendors (IBM 4680/4690),
NCR, Retalix, or 360Commerce ) is required. Experience in developing background applications and
interfaces is desirable. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Design, development, maintain and documentation of POS business applications and interfaces for
multiple environments.
• Periodically support sales by working with the customer’s IT department
• Secondary responsibility for assisting with back office applications and other development project.

II. Requirements / Qualifications

• 4-year degree in business, computer science or equivalent technical experience preferred

• 3 to 5 years of C++, CBasic, C++Builder, Windows XP, and software development in a retail or
supermarket POS environment is required.
• Strong change management and software testing practices
• Experience developing background applications on a POS System
• Database experience in SQL Server or other
• Experience in TCP sockets programming and FTP interfaces
• Experience with XML
• Ability to meet scheduled deadlines
• IBM 4690/4680 experience is desired
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Self-starter who can work well within a team environment
