Assignment Part 1 – EXPLORE the links below (and/or go out on the web and find your
own information and resources for making music part of teaching, teaching social
studies, teaching social studies and music, etc.) Obviously you do not have to read
all of this. However, I recommend you spend a couple of pleasant hours exploring.
Perhaps, sampling all sites for an overview first, and then going back to read a few
deeper and to answer the questions, would be a good approach. Then answer the focus
questions below. Post your responses in our Blackboard Discussion Board area (250 -
400 words). Please inform me of any issues with any of the links you discover as you go
through them – technology issues, irrelevant or inappropriate material, etc.

Focus Questions
• Which resource from the list above or from your own explorations did you find
to be the most interesting, informative, and inspiring – from the point of view of
informing your own understandings about teaching? Why?
• List 3 ways that you think music can be effectively brought into other curriculum
areas. Be as specific as you can in describing how this would actually work (or
give links to examples you find on the web)
• Give the link to a music resource you would like to bring into the classoom. How
would you use it with your students? How would you make it part of your
project?
Assignment Part 2 – Circle back to the Discussion Board later in the week, read
your classmates' posts, and post a comment, suggestion, or other relevant item
to one of their posts
