SEMESTER 2
SESSION 2010/2011
COURSE PLAN
COURSE CODE KNJ 3183
COURSE TITLE Process Control System
CREDIT 3
Type of Module Core
Prerequisite KNJ 3163
Course Aim The course KNJ 3183 is designed to provide the students with knowledge of process control
system relating to industries and general operations of manufacturing. It covers the
introduction of process control system and its parameters. Classifications of process control,
batch process, continuous process, process dynamic, process modelling, behaviour of first
and second order process, response characteristics of complicated process will be discussed.
Additionally, Real time optimization, model predictive control and Linear programming
model, SWOT analysis of process, statistical analysis of process and control will be
discussed. Industrial applications of process control will be discussed to provide the students
with the applied knowledge.
LEARNING CO1 : Ability to define and classified typical process control ( A1,LL).
OUTCOMES
CO2: Ability to analyze and examine the typical process and distinguish the types of process
Control used in the systems (P1).
CO3: Ability to analyze and improve the control systems in typical process through
Simulation exercise (CT).
CO4: Ability to evaluate a typical process control systems and ability to evaluate the
corresponding design and assess the problems outcome(C4).
