Typical Applications
Button and bullet anodes are designed specifically for Wire: Length 10 ft
use in water environments where a small and secure Size: #8 = Standard #8 AWG
anode is preferred. Button anodes are most often used Insulation HMWPE = HMWPE
on locks, dams and other structures where a low profile Standard
anode is required. The bullet anode which is mounted
on a metal rod is ideally suited for use in condenser
water boxes. Both anode types operate efficiently in
fresh, brackish and salt water environments.

Corrpro® Vessel Anodes CorrFlange™, RedHead and BlueHead
Product Description
Corrpro produces anodes for the protection of oil field vessels in a variety of shapes, sizes, mounting assemblies and
types of metals.
Applications
CorrFlange, RedHead and BlueHead anodes are used in a variety of different designs, for the protection of Heater
Treaters, Free Water Knockouts, Separators, Electrostatic Treaters, and Water Storage Tanks.
The CorrFlange™ is an improved anode mounting system developed by Corrpro for the use of cathodic protection
in code-rated vessels, located in areas that restricts the use of Victalulic® connections on pressure rated vessels.
The CorrFlange is recommended for use with a flange isolator to allow the corrosion engineer to monitor the current

RedHead mounted anodes have been used for a number of years to supply cathodic protection to a variety of
vessels. The fiberglass composition of the RedHead provides excellent strength and isolating features that allows
them to be used with galvanic or impressed current anodes. The RedHeads are designed to be installed in a schedule
40, 4” Victaulic® nipple.
BlueHead specifically designed by Corrpro for easy installation in schedule 80 Victalulic® nipples with up to 30 mils
of coating. The BlueHeads are contructed in the same manner as the RedHeads and can be used as a replacement
for the RedHead anodes.

Applications
Corrpro bracelet anodes are designed for use on all
types of pipelines found in salt water environments.
On pipe installations where a concrete weight coat is
to be empolyed, square ended bracelet anodes are
recommended at the same thickness as the weight

Corrpro® H-1 Alloy Cast Magnesium Anodes
Applications
H-1 anodes are recommended for use in low-resistivity 1-866-267-7776
soils typically below 2,000 ohm-cm. Because the
anodes have a lower driving voltage than high-potential
anodes, they are ideally suited for structures where
over protection is of concern. Their lower-current
output also allows these anodes to operate longer than
their high potential counterparts in more conductive
environments.

protective material, Corrpro offers hull, ballast tank, and environments. The use of these anodes should be
condenser zinc anodes for use on structures in brackish avoided in areas where temperatures may exceed

When designing deep anode CP systems, limit the current density on the outside of the coke column to
a maximum of 150 mA/ft2.
A survey of eight major energy companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico indicated the use of 97%
to 99% coating efficiency for cathodic protection designs on FBE coated pipe over a life from 20 to 40
years.
For AWWA C-301 embedded cylinder, prestressed concrete cylinder pipe PCCP, AWWA C-301
Anodes and Accessories
lined cylinder PCCP, and AWWA C-303 pretensioned concrete cylinder pipe, 100 mV of polarization
is achieved with a cathodic protection current density of 100 microamps per square foot of outside
diameter pipe surface area in most soils.
When designing Grid systems for under above ground tanks that are to be operated at high
temperature, specify that the power feeds be provided with Teflon FEP insulation and the power feed
connection be sealed with Teflon PTFE heat shrink tubing. The cable insulation is rated for maximum
continuous service at 205° C and the heat shrink tubing at 250° C.
When designing corrosion protection systems, always include provisions for corrosion monitoring such
as corrosion probes, coupons and Permacells.
When using a cathodic protection criteria which results in a polarized potential less negative than -850
mV CSE, recognize that under certain conditions, pipelines experience high pH SCC in the potential
range of -650 mV to -750 mV CSE.
For calculating the resistance-to-earth water for slab or bracelet anodes, use McCoys equation:
R = 0.135 P
√A
P = resistivity ohm-cm
A = exposed surface area of anode cm²
