SUMMARY . From the very beginning Marcuse undertook a discussion with Hegel,
whose « ontology » he compares with the theory of historicity to which such ontology
is meant to give a foundation. But when, thirty years later, he denounces the reduction
of our universe to the « unidimensional » and begins advocating a new kind of the
working of negativity, he endeavours to break the circle of technician rationality and
to move towards the future and the « transcendance » of the project which draws us
to it. That is a reducing perspective, for the genuine dialectical logic cannot agree
with such a simple bidimentionality ; the absence of any reference to « memory » and
to the intemporality of the essence is a setback for any true transition from the
onto logical to the historical and for the creative emergency of Reason in this historical
frame.
ves de la civilisation ;
fondamentales et dans ses relations ;
