There is a statement of task.
The topic is clear.
The purpose is clear.
The plan is clear and useful.
The topic, purpose and plan are
all relevant to each other.
The plan has sufficient scope to
enable the student to collect
enough relevant data.
The plan involves a variety of
math, both simple and advanced.
The reason for each step of the
plan is clearly stated or implied.
The variables to be examined by
the project are clear, either stated
or implied.
The submission is clearly
presented and well organized,
including coherent English
statements, and is without
spelling and grammar errors.

the defined statement of task.
The data is organized.
The data is organized in a
manner appropriate for the
planned analysis.
The data is sufficient in quantity
to complete the stated plan.
The data is sufficient in quality to
allow for a wide variety of math.
The data has been collected in a
valid manner or is from a valid
source.

are carried out correctly.
The simple mathematical processes
are relevant to the stated task.
The simple mathematical processes
are clearly and correctly explained
through demonstration of working and
explanation in words where
appropriate.
More sophisticated mathematical
techniques are carried out.
The sophisticated mathematical
techniques are carried out accurately.
The sophisticated mathematical
techniques are relevant to the stated
task.
Sophisticated mathematical
techniques are clearly and correctly
explained through demonstration of
working and explanation in words
where appropriate.
A wide range of sophisticated
mathematical techniques are used.
These are carried out accurately, are
relevant to the stated task, and are

conclusion is produced.
Some interpretations and/or
conclusions are produced.
The interpretations and/or
conclusions are consistent with the
analysis.
Simple discussion on the validity of
the mathematical process and
results obtained is produced.
Thorough interpretations and/or
conclusions are produced and are
consistent with the analysis. (This
should include nearly all the
possible interpretations and/or
conclusions based on the project.)
The relationship between the
analysis and the evaluation is clear.
Summaries of the results are given
along with each interpretation.
Critical discussion on the validity of
the mathematical process and
results obtained is produced. (This
should include nearly all possible
discussions of validity based on the
project.)
The submission is clearly
presented and well organized,
including coherent English

Please grade yourself as honestly as possible. I am interested in what think

your effort and commitment have been. Remember to take into consideration the
whole semester (you were first assigned this project back in August). You should
consider the following: Participation in discussions individually and in class, use
of available resources such as texts and teachers, level of understanding of the
concepts involved, initiative in choosing and working on project, meeting
deadlines, and perseverance.
For the IB grade I will be giving the grade that I am able to justify. For the school
reports, I am interested in knowing how you feel you have performed. Please
include any particular comments you think I might be interested in.
Below is a summary of the IB descriptors for each score. Choose the one that
best describes your commitment.

%: Student showed commitment. This means the student did not
participate in discussions, did not submit the required work, and missed
many of the deadlines.

 (: Student showed *
, commitment. This means the student had
minimal participation in discussions initiated by the teacher, met most
but not all deadlines and made some use of available resources.

#: Student showed , commitment. This means the student had good
active participation in discussions initiated both by the student and the
teacher, met almost all deadlines, and made good use of available
resources.

&: Student showed , commitment. This means the student
excelled in all areas of the expectations and at all stages of the project
including active participation in discussions initiated mainly by the
student, met all deadlines, demonstrated a full understanding of the
concepts in the project, worked independently making excellent use of
available resources, and demonstrated perseverance when difficulties
were encountered.
