Dear Mr. Gommesen:

This letter is in response to your request for information dated May 6, 2011 and received by the
District on May 6, 2011 in which you request the following:

“The transaction register for the district's checking account for the period of March 1 through
March 31, 2011. If available in the transaction register, include the following items:(1) the
transaction amount;(2) the check number; (3) the name of the payee; and (4) either: a
statement of the purpose of the expenditure for which the check was written; or identification of
the purpose of the expenditure, using the function code assigned to the expenditure for purposes
of meeting state reporting requirements. It is requested that the District exclude from the
transaction register a check issued to a district employee in payment of (1) salary, wages, or an
employment stipend; or (2) a workers' compensation income benefit, medical benefit, death
benefit, or burial benefit that is issued by a school district operating as a self-insurer under
Chapter 504, Labor Code. Additionally, the requester requests that the Officer for Public
Records redact, at his sole discretion, any transaction information that the Officer for
Public Records determines that the disclosure is expressly prohibited by law or the
information is confidential under law. This request does not apply to or encompass any
checking account maintained by the school district or school campus solely for a student activity
fund.”

The information you request is attached. Pursuant to your request, the District excluded the
following information from the check register: Fund 461 (Campus Activity Fund) and Fund 865
(Student Activity Fund). Further, pursuant to your request to exclude and redact confidential
information, such information was redacted in general accordance with guidance from previous
informal Attorney General Letter Rulings received by the District on prior requests for copies of
