EXPERIMENT 2
1.0 TOPIC
Error in Experiment Data (Percentage Of Error)
2.0 OBJECTIVE
At the end of this experiment, students should be able to:-
2.1 To investigate sources of error in measurements
2.2 To apply the equations provided to analyze the error in equipment.
3.0 THEORY
There are several sources of error in any experimental data. When making analyzing
experimental data, one of the primary concerns is the sources of error and the extent to
which the error has affected the validity of data. The following equations are used in
performing the experiment:-
4.0 APPARATUS:
4.1 Power Supply
4.2 Multimeter
4.3 Project Board
4.4 Resistor R1 = 470 Ω
R2 = 100 Ω
R3 = 1.2 k Ω
R4 = 3.9 k Ω
5.0 PROCEDURE
Figure 5.1
5.1 Calculate all the voltages and currents and fill in the Table 5.1 below.
5.2 Connect the circuit as shown in Figure 5.1.

E3042 : INSTRUMENTATION
5.3 Measure the voltages and current across each resistors and record in Table
5.1.
5.4 Calculate the % of error and % of accuracy for each resistors.

7.0 QUESTIONS:
7.1 Name the type of errors that occur in this experiment and explain in detail?
7.2 Compare the voltage and current between the calculation and measurement
methods.
7.3 Use your own words, what do you know about % of error and % of accuracy.
