the brunelli residence
lake hartwell, georgia

master plan

Nestled among a wooded cove, the Brunelli residence is a

destination through an alle of trees. Just before the front entrance, a
meadow of native grasses creates a picturesque landscape. Inside
the home, the great room opens into a spacious deck overlooking the
estate and front gardens. The grand patio and outdoor kitchen look
towards Lake Hartwell to create outdoor rooms to make this residence
complete.

the brunelli residence

design intent: To design a large,
high-end estate with dramatic topography
by utilizing its natural wooded and waterfront
views.

The Brunelli residence features a

juxtaposition of formal structure and
informal planting design to create interest
at this waterfront lot. The grand patio
features a plunge pool that overlooks a
private gazebo and fire pit, while panoramic
views of Lake Hartwell play as its backdrop.

design intent: To create a

welcoming plaza that
encourages interaction
within the space.

Located in a heavy
foot traffic area, the
redeveloped space
evokes a change of pace
and invites its visitors to enjoy the
open lawn or shaded arbor. White
noise from the fountain encourages
a sense of escape, as this oasis is a
quaint buffer to its surroundings.

downtown watkinsville redevelopment
watkinsville, georgia

design intent:
To create a small
town environment
that celebrates
community.

The downtown Watkinsville

redevelopment focuses on the
potential “walkability” of the
community. The featured site
represents smart urban growth
additions for a town lacking
connectivity between its streets.
The establishment of sidewalks,
mixed-use buildings, central plaza,
and a pedestrian-only avenue gives master plan
the community character and accessibility.

jacob’s rehabilitation center
belize, central america

Jacob’s Rehabilitation Center was a project I began

during my 2010 internship. This master plan was
used for fundraising purposes to bring awareness to
this development in Belize. The rehabilitation center
emphasizes the ability to grow food and to become
self-reliant without the abuse of alcohol.

design intent: To design a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that encouraged an appreciation
for nature and culture, while creating an oasis to nurture oneself.

community redevelopment
moss side redevelopment
athens, georgia

design intent: To develop a conservation

subdivision featuring approximately 50 single
family lots that share access to the community
pond, trails, and recreational spaces, while master plan
maintaining integrity to the environment.

nashville, tennessee

preliminary concept

the warren residence

master plan design intent: To create a Charleston-inspired, pocket
garden that provides a series of different spaces.

The Warrens were clients during my 2010 internship that had a narrow lawn space that they hoped to
turn into a small garden. Many concepts and designs were created, but one that elongated the space
and enhanced the existing shape seemed to work best to create this enclosed pocket garden. The
parterre garden suited the residence well and added formality and character to the space. By
creating a series of spaces through the stone walk, arbor entry, small sitting patio and parterre garden,
this small yard became one with many vistas and unique touches.
