The problems in this packet are designed to help you review topics from previous
mathematics courses that are important to your success in Honors Precalculus.
2. Show all work that leads you to each solution on a separate sheet of paper.
3. You may use your notes from previous mathematics courses to help you (or look online for
help). You may also work with another student, but not copy from another student. (There’s a big
difference!!!)
All work should be completed and ready to turn in on the FIRST DAY of school. Various
problems will be graded and will count as part of your first quarter grade.
There will be a quiz covering these topics during the first week of school.
Divide.
5. (x3 + 7x2 – 26x – 75) ÷ (x + 9) 6. (n3 + 9n2 + 1) ÷ (n2 – 3)

37. Heather and Adam each improved their yards by planting grass sod and geraniums. They
bought their supplies from the same store. Heather spent $180 on 12 ft2 of grass sod and 12
geraniums. Adam spent $104 of 8 ft2 of grass sod and 6 geraniums. Find the cost of one ft2 of
grass sod and the cost of one geranium.
In an experiment, students measured the speed s (in meters per second) of a falling object t
seconds after it was released. The results are given in the table. (Round all answers to
three decimal places!)
t 0 1 2 3 4
s 0 11 20.8 32.4 49.4
43. Using your calculator, create a quadratic regression equation for the data.
44. Using your calculator, create a linear regression equation for the data.
45. Which equation best represents the data? Why do you think that?
46. Using the quadratic model for the data, what was the speed at 1.6 seconds?
47. Using the quadratic model for the data, what was the speed at 6 seconds?
48. Using the linear model for the data, when was the speed 23 m/s?
