Installation
After completing the following steps, you will have WILI live and running on WRAP.2C board. Use at least
16 MB Compact Flash card. Please note, all data from this card will be erased.
Installation 1
WRAP.2C_Installation_Guide
These commands are potentially dangerous as they allow you to overwrite your system disk
unintentionally, so please double-check the destination disk. WILIBOX is not responsible for any
damages caused by improper use of low-level disk write utilities or the given disk images.
Step 1. Download purchased WILI WRAP.2C FW archive from WILIBOX website, Store area. Registration
is required to access your store archive.
Step 2. Extract downloaded WILI WRAP.2C FW archive to temporary folder. You will find files: boot.img,
vmlinuz and initrd.img
Step 3. Remove Compact Flash card from WRAP.2C board. Make sure the power is switched off.
Step 4. Insert Compact Flash to USB writer device. Compact Flash is ready now for WILI WRAP.2C image.
Under Linux:
$ dd if=boot.img of=/dev/sda
/dev/sda is the name of you Compact Flash writer device and may be different (e.g. /dev/sdb, /dev/hd<X>,
where X is your hard disk drive).
Under Windows:
physdiskwrite.exe boot.img
Reinsert Compact Flash to refresh file system. Three partitions should appear.
The PhysDiskWrite utility is written by Manuel Kasper as part of m0n0wall project. It is not
required that you use this utility to write boot image but it is the one that was tested by us.
You can use any other utility that can write on a medium raw image of a disk (e.g. dd for
Windows or !WinImage).
Step 6. Copy files vmlinuz and initrd.img to the first partition of Compact Flash card next to boot directory
under Linux, <Flash driver letter>: under Windows.
Installation 2
WRAP.2C_Installation_Guide
Unmount or safely remove (according to the operating system) Compact Flash from USB writer device.
Step 7. Insert Compact Flash card into WRAP.2C board, switch the power on and boot the system.
Step 8. After successful installation you will see WILI login prompt. Now you have WILI-based WRAP.2C
ready for using.
◊ Prepared WRAP.2C (see section above how to prepare your WILI based WRAP.2C)
◊ Internet connection
◊ DHCP server enabled on LAN (optional)
◊ Administrator computer
◊ WILI client (e.g. your laptop with wireless connection)
Follow the instructions to prepare your WILI based device ready for use:
Step 1. Connect prepared WRAP.2C board to the same LAN as Administrator computer via WAN interface.
Your local network should have the Internet connection.
Step 2. Make sure the DHCP server is enabled on your network and WILI WRAP.2C is on the same LAN.
WILI WRAP.2C is DHCP client in default status. . If there is no DHCP server running on your network, the
WILI WRAP.2c will respond to the static IP address 192.168.2.66.
Step 3. Prepare WILI client: make sure wireless communication is turned on.
WILI firmware you have purchased comes with no license included (not valid status). This status provides
only a very limited functionality:
◊ It runs only with a default configuration. Only a single BSSID is allowed; DHCP client runs
on WAN interface, DHCP servers run on LAN and Wireless interfaces.
◊ It is impossible to change the configuration. All features are locked down until a valid license
is presented. Any changes made in configuration will be stored in the flash memory of the
device. Thus only a default setting will be used after the reboot.
