The True Church

Is the Body of Christ

I do believe there is one god: Father, son, and Holy Spirit.
I do believe Christ died for our sins and rose again.
I do believe we are saved by grace, and not by works.
I do believe the bible is God’s inspired word. (Most translations)
I do believe the Ten Commandments are still viable.
I do believe Christ is coming again, and look forward to it.
I do believe in the gifts of the spirit, prophecy included.
I do believe my body is a temple, though I am not convicted that
certain foods are “unclean”, since God created all.
I do not believe only one denomination is the “true” or “remnant”
church. The church is the body of Christ, His true believers.
I do not believe Ellen G. White should be so highly touted. I eschew
reading her many writings, as I hold the Bible as my authoritative
word.
I question her authority (especially in view of the bible’s view of
women in the church).
I believe all the denominations are some of Satan’s methods of
keeping us divided. The church should be united.
I do believe in baptism by immersion, and I have been so baptized.
I do believe the remnant church will have many prophets and will show
all the gifts of the spirit.
I believe EGW added to the bible (if what I have heard here is from her)
I do believe we should live each day as if Christ is coming.
I believe we must love God and love each other.
I do agree the seventh day is Saturday.
I could worship with Sabbath keepers and Lord’s Day keepers as long
as they love the Lord and believe in Christ.

Questions & Concerns:

17. Life after Death: I am not sure all sleep. The thief was told he
would be in paradise.
*Why so much about the 4th commandment? If you break one, you’ve
broken them all. Many here seem to have broken #1 with #4!

*Are any of us without sin?

* Islam, Judaism, and SDA all observe the Sabbath and eschew certain
foods. None of these things will save you.
Only faith in Christ Jesus. Yet, I will pray on this subject. As yet I am
not convicted that shellfish or pork is inherently bad.

* EGW stuff – Investigative Judgment? No! Judgment Day!

Too legalistic. Too cult like. Too hateful.
Height of Adam and Eve?
144,000 or too many to number?
Women’s role in the church (silent?).
Prophecies – Christ’s return June 1845 or Sept. 1845 or 10/22/1851?
Falsehoods in visions? Plagiarisms in her writings?
Hateful toward papacy. Truth, Legend, and Lore.
Authority on bible translation gave her role similar to that of the
Catholic pope!

The whole thing about the Sunday law reeks of paranoia and self-
importance. A church should be humble. It is not about YOU! Worship
BOTH DAYS!! (As did the early Christians who were converted Jews)

Women in the Church

I Corinthians 14: 34, 35 – Let your women keep silence in the churches;
for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to
be under obedience, as also says the law.
And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at
home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
I Timothy 2: 11, 12 – Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man,
but to be in silence.

Investigative Judgment?
Christ Already Sits at God’s Right Hand

Hebrews 6: 19, 20 – Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,

both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high
priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Hebrews 1: 3 - ... when He had by himself purged ours sins, sat down
on the right hand of the Majesty on high...

Hebrews 8: 1 - ... we have such a high priest, who is set on the right
hand of the Majesty in the heavens.

Hebrews 10: 12 & Hebrews 12: 2 both state Jesus sits on the right hand
of God. Also Colossians 3: 1 and Romans 8: 34

Christ Knows His Own

John 10: 14 – I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am

known of mine.

Acts 10: 9 thru 11: 18 – Peter’s vision. Relates to Gentiles, okay. I find
it interesting that food is used since the gentiles obviously did not
follow the Jewish tradition of food. One follows the other in my mind. I
am not Jewish. Nothing of foods is mentioned in the ten
commandments. I believe that while the commandments are yet
viable, the other laws were nailed to the cross with Christ and there
the new covenant was born.
Luke 22: 20 – Christ’s blood formed the New Testament.

Romans 14: 2, 14 & 22 – For one believeth that he may eat all things:
another, who is weak, eats herbs.
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is
nothing unclean of itself: but to him the esteems any thing to be
unclean, to him it is unclean.
Hast thou faith? Have it unto God. Happy is he that condemns
not himself in that thing which he allows.

I Timothy 4: 1-4 – Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter
times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits,
and doctrines of devils;
Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having the conscience seared with a
hot iron.
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats,
which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them
which believe and know the truth.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it
be received with thanksgiving.

Genesis 9: 3 (God’s covenant with Noah) Every moving thing that lives
shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all
things.

A lot of the Old Testament laws seem designed expressly for the Jews,
that they stand apart from the rest of the peoples as God’s people.
Circumcision, no body alteration (except circumcision!), food laws, no
fraternizing with other people, etc.

Acts 15: 5-11 – Saved by grace, not by the old laws which even the
Jews found hard to keep completely. The Gentiles were not made to
conform to Jewish tradition.

What goes into the belly does not defile men, but rather what comes
out of men.
