have occurred will be dealt with according to the procedures set

1. If no submissions were made before the deadline, coursework submitted up to two weeks late
that meets the criteria for a pass will be treated as a referral. It will be subject to university
regulations for referral work.
2. Coursework submitted late without an Extenuating Circumstances claim will receive a ZERO
grade.
If you have extenuating circumstances you may submit your coursework up to two weeks
after the published deadline without penalty but this is subject to acceptance of your claim by
the School Extenuating Circumstances Panel. If your claim is rejected then you will receive a
zero grade for your work.
3. Coursework submitted more than two weeks late will be given feedback but a grade of non-
submission will be awarded regardless of any extenuating circumstances. However, if your
Extenuating Circumstances claim is accepted then the Extenuating Circumstances Panel will
recommend to the Progression and Award Board that you be permitted to retake a different
item of assessment at a future assessment point.
4. All courseworks must be submitted as above.
THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL COURSEWORK.
THE WORK SUBMITTED MUST THEREFORE BE YOUR OWN WORK.

Coursework Specification

• Answers MUST be typed and submitted in a document containing no other text apart from
your name and student ID.
• Do not include a copy of the coursework header sheet.
• Do not include references or a bibliography.
• Answers must not repeat the question, or include textbook definitions, even if in quotes.
• For each question, no marks will be awarded specifically for defining or explaining the terms
given the question, although you may need to do this as part of your answer.

Guidelines
You are required to give short meaningful answers written in your own words to each
question. To help you to understand the sort of answers that are expected, two example
questions with answers are provided here.

Example One

Question:
Explain the importance of the following cost management term: Weighted Scoring Model.

Answer:
The importance of a Weighted Scoring Model is that it enables a project manager to objectively
compare a variety of products or options by deciding on the criteria and factors that are important in
the decision, and assigning weights to them, and then scoring each product or option against them.
The products/options with the highest weighted score are most likely to meet requirements.  The
calculation can then be presented to the project stakeholders to enable them to confirm the project
manager’s decision.  Another important use of a WSM is that the criteria and their weightings can be
varied to do a “What If” calculation as part of making a decision.

Example Two

Question:
Give examples from your own experience of “risk avoidance”

Answer:
I avoid certain risks by not engaging in high risk sports such as skiing, abseiling, parachuting and
bungee jumping.  I also do not invest in the stock market even though it may result in a substantial
return on investment.  I prefer to be “Safe, not Sorry”, and realise that that restricts my options.

Each question is worth 20 marks
This coursework is 30% of the course assessment.
