Padilla Consultants, Staten Island, N.Y.
01/08-Present
Working for several clients in the three state area and represented these firms
as follows:
Project Manager in school projects for the School Construction Authority (SCA).
Projects for SCA included final
scope reports for kitchen Ansul systems in public schools throughout Brooklyn, Q
ueens and Staten Island.
As HVAC Design Engineer and Construction Manager designed and supervised the upg
rade of a 40 years old pneumatic system. The project name was Climate Control U
pgrade for PS620Q - Thomas Edison H.S. in Queens.
My duties were to write a report of existing conditions with findings and recomm
endations and producing a final
scope of work report. As a construction manager supervised with weekly meetings
progress of project and at the end produced final punch list.
As Fire Protection Design Engineer installed a new fire alarm sprinkler system i
n The Newark Wellbeing Pavilion
Building, a new medical facility. The sprinkler system consisted of a wet and d
ry pipes system as per NFPA No. 13
guidelines. The HVAC system was fire protected as per NFPA No's 90A, 90B and 20
4 guidelines. Electronic equipment and documents storage rooms were protected w
ith FM200 gaseous clean agent as per NFPA No. 2001
guidelines.
Engineered and designed the replacement of existing chiller plant for a multipur
pose building for the Human Resource Administration (HRA) in the Bronx. A centr
ifugal chiller was replaced by five and one stand-by chillers modules with a cap
acity of 20 tons and a 15 hp motors for each module, two new chilled water pumps
, two new hot water pumps and a new 170 tons cooling tower.
Converted an office building into an auxiliary medical facility for the city of
Newark. The Newark Wellbeing
Pavilion Building was designed with a 90 tons rooftop cooling and heating air ha
ndling unit and a variable air
volume system with electrical reheat coils for general use areas. Also, a const
ant air system with 100% outdoor
air intake and totally exhausted to outdoors thru HEPA filters, serving isolatio
n rooms and emergency rooms.
Surveyed and evaluated several existing air conditioning systems serving City Ha
ll, a landmark historic building in Newark, New Jersey. Prepared a written
report of existing equipment conditions with findings and recommendations and p
roduced a final scope of work report. The new final design for the City Hall of
Newark building included a combination of several split air systems, air condit
ioned rooftop units, chiller plant, pumps
and a cooling tower.
Laszlo Bodak Engineer, P.C., New York, N.Y.
10/06 - 10/07
HVAC Design Engineer.
Prepared conceptual HVAC systems design, cooling and heating load calculation, e
quipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts and sizing. Wrote specification
s, automatic controls, applied codes, supervised designers and draftsmen, meetin
gs with architects, field observations and finished projects within time allocat
ed.
Designed Public Schools Libraries projects for the School Construction Authority
(SCA) to comply with air ventilation requirements according to NYC ventilation
code index, throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
Projects responsibil
ities included design layouts for ductwork, piping for all air systems and air/w
ater systems. Selected mechanical equipment such as air handling units, cooling
/heating coils, fans, volume/fire dampers, diffusers, registers, grilles, VAV bo
xes air monitor devices, chillers, pumps and boilers. Performed cooling and hea
ting loads, wrote specifications, prepared automatic temperature controls for co
nstant, variable, recirculated and 100% outside air systems, reviewed an
d approved shop drawings and cost estimates. Supervised draftsmen designers,
coordinated with other disciplines- architectural, plumbing and electrical, surv
eyed existing field conditions in buildings, to produce working drawings. Atten
ded meetings with architects, owners, building managers to coordinate and evalua
te client needs.
Engineered and designed a data computer center at Justice Complex building in Tr
enton, New Jersey. The data
Center design consisted of four floor mounted Liebert air conditioning units ins
talled in a raised floor with Halon
purge fire protection system, outdoor air cooled chiller, chilled-water and glyc
ol piping and pumps. Air conditioning and humidity control at 72 degrees and 45
% relative humidity. Preconditioning outside air to remove dust, salts and corr
osive gases and a minimum outdoor air quantity to meet ventilation for human occ
upancy. Redundancy of a/c equipment with cross-connect chilled-water or refriger
ation for a back-up system.
J.T. Falk & Company, New York, N.Y.
09/75 - 12/77

n allocated time. Created as-built drawings which showed mechanical equ
ipment, ductwork , piping in floor plan, section and elevations. Reviewed and ap
proved shop drawings for construction. Prepared cost estimates for bid purpose.
Issued operation and maintenance manuals to consulting engineers approval and t
hen submitted to owner use.
Managed the installation of perimeter fan coil units with chilled water and hot
water piping in the Memorial Hospital located in New York City and air condition
ed automatic teller machines (ATM) in lobbies of City Bank throughout Manhattan
