1999-2001
Based at the Asia Pacific Headquarters of MCI in Hong Kong, I selected and led a
group of sales and sales support professionals located throughout the region in
Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Taipei and Seoul. Complementin
g similar sales operations in Europe and the U.S., the group consisted of sales
people grouped into Headquarters, Remote and Investment Account Teams focusing o
n the Top 1000 Global Segment. Each team had specific target objectives along wi
th the sales programs and associated commission plans to drive productivity. The
result was a closely coordinated approach to expanding existing customer relati
onships or breaking into new, high-end, telecommunications intensive multi-natio
nal opportunities.
My team overachieved revenue targets for two consecutive years and concluded one
of the largest telecommunications outsource projects in the Asia Pacific Region
: The FedEx Asia Pacific Network covering some 27 locations in 13 countries - a
$25M, three year contract win for MCI Global Accounts.

Global Solutions represented MCI's capability to fulfill the customer's desire t
o outsource an entire network, as opposed to procuring individual products. I r
elocated to the MCI Southeast Region with the assignment to focus on developing
large Global Network Solution opportunities including the Coca Cola Global Netwo
rk and the Turner Broadcasting Network. I recruited, developed and managed a reg
ional start-up team of Sales Applications Consultants supporting a pipeline of t
echnical revenue opportunities for MCI's largest accounts in the U.S. Southeast
Region. The formation of this team of 20 professionals supported MCI's expansion
into the Internet, Web Hosting, Call Center and Advanced 800 markets. This was
accomplished by deploying and training a group of overlay solutions experts and
providing sales strategy programs that drove revenue opportunities from headqua
rtered sales teams by providing a consultative approach to solutions selling. Pr
ovided the right people and the right tools in a very fast paced market, resulti
ng in an ability to offer unique integrated business solutions vs. a simple prod
uct approach. Captured significant market share in these new markets and counter
