PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
LOGISTICS MGR (UNIVERSAL SCIENTIFIC INTERNATIONAL)
In charge of the Logistics department. In charge of all material flow from buyin
g raw parts to delivering finished goods. Total plant purchases were around $10
million per month.
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE (PRINCE MANUFACTURING)
Responsible for the management of Finance, Purchasing, Customer Relations and Hu
man Resources functions for two facilities located in Mexico.
DIR. OF MANUFACTURING MEXICAN OPERATIONS (CARDINAL HEALTHCARE)
Responsible for overseeing and directing operations of 6 Mexican facilities with
full P&L responsibility. Managed over $ 180 million in material throughput and
$ 40 million in labor and overhead expenses. The 6 facilities were located in Ju
arez, Chihuahua, Delicias and Cuauhtemoc in the State of Chihuahua.
In this position I reported directly to the Vice-President of Manufacturing. I w
as in charge of site selection, city permits, products, machinery and equipment.
Hired the Plant and Staff Managers for the start-up of a facility. started the
Delicias, Cuauhtemoc and the (two) Juarez facilities. Customer Service Level wa
s maintained above 98%. All facilities were ISO 9002 and CE mark certified.
GROUP PLANT MANAGER (BAXTER HEALTHCARE)
Group Plant Manager of the "Convertors de Mexico and Ensamble y Empaque de Compo
nentes" facilities.
I was promoted to this position because they gave me the responsibility for init
iating the operation of the Small Kitting Plant. Production was transferred from
the United States as a Cost Savings Project. Highest achievement was starting t
he "Clean Room Operation" maintaining Production Volumes and not disrupting the
Service Level provided to our Customers, as well as providing the highest qualit
y level in finished goods. Reduced costs and improved number of turns by loweri
ng inventories through Kan Ban and Pull Systems. HPM's were reduced after implem
entation of the improved manufacturing processes developed by our Engineering De
partment.
PLANT MGR (BAXTER HEALTHCARE)
In charge of the Juarez Plant results. Managed this facility to be the most flex
ible and efficient Mexican Operation. A Safety record that had no lost time acc
idents in 18 millions hours worked.
Turnaround results were obtained through new manufacturing processes and Quality
improvement projects.
PRODUCTION MANAGER (AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY)
Responsible for the production of the plant with 900 operators.
Outstanding Achievements: In December of 1980 The plant had a big problem with t
he Union. It had to close two weeks and laid-off 428 employees due to this dile
mma. A Plant Manager from the USA was temporarily assigned to the plant while hi
ring a new manager. I was hired as Production manager in June of 1981. I establi
shed new working rules and negotiated the union contract for the next two years.
The negotiation strongly considered company objectives and provided union needs
. The productivity of the plant improved by more than 30% thus reducing the cost
/hour. Working environment completely changed from a low morale operator situati
on to a proud productive team of employees working together to enhance the name
of the plant. I also changed the production staff mentality from excessive and p
oor manual controls in the areas of Efficiencies, Materials and Quality to Compu
terized Systems that updated and provided faster information in Material Availab
ility, Efficiencies, and Quality. Due to my systems and people oriented manageme
nt style and leadership I was promoted to Plant Manager.

MBA in Finance and Human Resources at the University of Chihuahua
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El
Paso
