With less than 4 weeks preparation time, was able to clear all the deficienci es from the annual survey the facility had prior to me arriving. This included 21 F Tags (one with a G rating), 10 N Tags, and 4 K Tags. In addition, we had a complaint visit regarding our wound care and in-house acquired wounds. Two sur veyors spent 8 1/2 hours in the facility and not only declared the complaints un founded, but were complimentary of our wound care program when they exited. Inc reased census from 101 to 112. Successfully guided Ocean View Health Care Center through two hurricane evacuati ons involving 175 residents and nearly 200 employees. Increased operating revenues by $300,000 and decreased operating expenses by $20 0,000 the first fiscal year in one CCRC by increasing census, adjusting entrance fees and monthly service fees, and monitoring individual department budgets. I mproved the ancillary capture rate from 70% to 95% in one Skilled Nursing Facili ty. Implemented a building improvement and bed expansion program that increased pote ntial revenue by over $700,000 per year and was overseer of a 30-bed constructio n addition to an existing Health Center as well as the construction of three mid -rise apartment buildings and fourteen cottages. Decreased expenses by reducing contracted employee usage from a high of 300 hour s per week to an average of 40 hours per week while reducing hours per patient d ay by 40% and adjusted staff schedules with a resulting reduction of 100 hours o vertime per pay period. Functioned as the Risk Manager of Catalina Health Care Center, Ocean View Nursin g and Rehabilitation Center and The Alliance Center for Retirement Living Health Center. Coordinated investigations of suspected abuse and filed reports to all appropriate agencies. Oversaw marketing departments and was directly involved in developing marketing campaigns for the facilities, which included my membership and attendance in com munity organizations and functions such as the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Comm unity Leadership Training. Installed clinical protocols for various programs including; General Rehabilitat ion, Medically Complex Treatment, Respiratory Care/Vents, Complex Wound Care, He mo Dialysis and Infusion Therapy. Interfaced with local community resources to temporarily relocate 170 residents for two hurricane evacuations. Developed Strategic Plans and budgets for the facilities. Consistently met budg et projections by monitoring income and expenses through profit and loss reports . Submitted monthly reports to corporate officials and gave financial presentat ions to resident and family groups and Boards of Directors. Negotiated "Managed Care" contracts with major insurance carriers as well as contracts with vendors . Strengthened management teams by implementing targeted goals and accountability protocols. Supported training initiatives for managers and supervisors. Implem ented risk reduction initiatives in support of our self-insurance program. Prov ided stability and professionalism during difficult times when replacing Adminis trators who had been asked to leave. Acquired Medicare Certification for a 60 bed Skilled Nursing Facility, obtained a license for an in-house Home Health Agency, and state approval to increase an Assisted Living Facility by 28 beds. Achieved a Superior Rating on nine state s urveys with various facilities. Led one Skilled Nursing Facility that had only been open for three months from a level A deficiency to a Superior Rating. Assumed management responsibilities of a financially distressed Continuing Care Retirement Community after the Department of Insurance had placed it under Admin istrative Supervision and was successful in getting the supervision removed. Ma naged facilities with more than 300 residents. Assisted in setting up and manag ing the largest Medical Staging Facility in the world while with the Air Force R eserve during Operation Desert Storm.
