Tooling and Manufacturing Association (TMA):
Seminar Series: Established the TMA Platinum series of seminars covering topics
for top managers such as strategic planning, pricing for profit, performance ma
nagement, attracting and hiring top performers, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, K
aizen, Kanban, JIT, etc.
Training Grants: Identified potential for federal and state grants and establis
hed program to conform to grant policies/guidelines; obtained/administered grant
from DECO (Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity) which reimbu
rsed $1.3M to 300+ members for employee training. TMA received $180K in state &
federal funds for grant administration.
Vogel Tool and Die Corporation:
Sales Expansion: Established automation and custom machine building division; d
esigned and built machines for many industries including first tier automotive s
uppliers. Led Marketing and Sales departments; and implemented customer relation
ship and feedback systems. Expanded sales from $3M to over $7.3M in a three year
period.
Production Expansion: Expanded production and capabilities. Manufactured and de
livered $1M order from Ford Motor Indianapolis updating two automotive steering
column manufacturing lines. Delivered a $2.9M automated manufacturing system to
Haworth Furniture to manufacture 10,800 banquet table leg assemblies per day. O
perations included tube notching, bending, piercing, automated assembly, rivetin
g and welding.
Production and Cost Controls: Implemented activity based costing and MRP system
utilizing Visual Manufacturing Software and utilized Lean principles to reduce c
osts by 20%, improve quality and reduce lead times.

negotiated bank financing, supervised construction, and managed move and instal
lation of equipment. Project came in on time, on budget and allowed double throu

MRP System: Analyzed Vogel processes; selected and implemented integrated MRP s
ystem. All manufacturing costs were captured and proper allocation of overhead c
osts allowed true margins to be determined.
