I am a retired D.C. Police Officer. I served the Metropolitan Police Department
for 21 1/2 years. I have experience in being a street officer, station officer,
cellblock officer, Special Operations, Division, Traffic Division and Civil Dist
urbance Training. Also investigation with Vice Unit (drugs) and skills in Plainc
lothes work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Street Officer - Investigations into complaints of criminal activity. Completing
necessary reports of crimes. Making arrest, filing for warrants, serving warran
ts and any other assignments given.
Station Officer - Preparing monetary paperwork for court pertaining to bond and
corporation counsel fines. Handling of all incoming prisoners, searching, and ta
king property. Doing fingerprinting, photographing and housing of prisoners. Als
o, preparing paperwork for transfer to court cellblock in the morning. Dealing w
ith the public coming into the station for assistance and taking necessary repor
ts if need be.
Cellblock Officer - Handling and searching incoming prisoners. Doing the booking
process on the computer, taking fingerprints and photos for processing. Prepara
tion for transportation to court cellblock.
Traffic Division - Handling all major accidents, fatalities and accidents involv
ing the D.C. Police Department. Also assisting other agencies if called upon.
Special Operations Division - Responsible for handling demonstrations, doing esc
orts of Foreign Dignitaries and Presidential Details.
Trained in the Civil Disturbance Unit. CDU handled all demonstrations, riots and
barricades when necessary.
Vice Unit- Conducting undercover operations of narcotics activities, preparing a
rrest and search warrants, assisting uniformed officers with testing of drugs, a
nd serving warrants with the assistance of uniformed officers-
Plainclothes - Conducting plainclothes operations of various criminal activities
, (I.e.,theft f/ autos, burglaries etc.)
Serving as Acting Official in the absence of Officials. Conducted roll-calls whi
ch entailed giving out assignments, giving up-to-date details from the previous
tour and
supervising officers on the street. As well as assisting them when they called f
or me. Supervising crime scenes, notifying necessary units to respond and handli
ng any complaints against officers from citizens or any complaints from citizens
that were about criminal activity. Advising the Watch Commander of any thing th
at the on-coming tour needed to know.
