As a part of the management team, I was involved in the day-to-day business oper
ations of the company. I was an integral part of all decision making in all tech
nical areas, including Product Line Offerings, Research and Development Projects
, new machine configurations and potential new markets. My expertise in machinin
g design, material procurement and machine assembly was utilized to determine pr
oject schedules from customer order through to system acceptance.
Key Contributions
* Managed Mechanical Engineering Department in the design of Welding Machines an
d Systems.
* Developed the concept and implemented a new gantry-type Motion System for larg
e CNC systems that substantially reduced the cost of assembly, alignment and ins
tallation by $50,000 and build time by 10%.
* Managed Mechanical Engineering Department through many successful projects, ma
intaining both engineering and overall project budgets.
* Managed the interface with Electrical and Software Engineering Departments to
insure complete and effective system designs.
* Effectively ran the Electrical and Mechanical Assembly Departments for two yea
rs, improving its performance and efficiency through new procedures, training an
d morale building. This improved the overall performance of the manufacturing ar
ea by 20% based on budget.
* Oversaw the design of special Electron Beam Guns, including one to be used by
NASA in future space applications.
* Managed the team that designed an advanced Switch-Mode, High-Voltage Power Sup
ply that lowered the cost and improved the performance and reliability through t
he implementation of state-of-the-art technology.
* Insured that all machines conformed to customer, OSHA, CE and CSA requirements
, where applicable.
* Worked with Sales and Marketing Departments to define the weld chambers and mo
tion systems to be utilized in the new Electron Beam Direct Manufacturing proces
s.
* Established Cost Estimates and Project Schedules for standard, as well as cust
om machines and systems.
* Interfaced with Customers from project conception through design to make certa
in that their requirements were met.
* Assisted Test and Service Departments with in-house and in-field troubleshooti
ng.
