MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Co-directed the development and implementation a quality management system with-
in the guidelines of ISO 9001:2000. (Registration was accomplished in 10 months)
Completed the required training to be an ISO 9001:2000 Internal Quality Auditor.
Implemented, directed and facilitated the training of a safety program that resu
lted in 0 First-aid Reportables, 0 Lost Time Accidents, 0 OSHA Recordables drivi
ng down Workers Compensation costs for 2010. (First time achieved for the compan
y)
Developed and coached an OSHA required Fork Truck Safety Program.
Developed and coached the implementation of an OSHA required Lockout / Tagout Pr
ogram.
Instilled and drove the continuous improvement culture and mentored C.I. Teams i
n lean manufacturing directing cost down efforts towards company objectives and
goals.
Completed and utilize the Zinger-Miller Frontline Management Program.
Completed and utilize the John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
Completed and utilize the Kaison Lean manufacturing Course.
Activily participated in LaValle WI. as a village board member.
EXPERIENCES;
January 1st, 2008 thru December 31st, 2009
Operations Manager: In a facility specializing in the engineering, design and fa
brication of stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum products. I reported direc
tly to the president/owner. This position required the ability to analyze and ev
aluate key production/operation indicators; apply corrective/preventive actions;
implement cost savings inititives; develop and analyze capitol and expense budg
ets; and provide direction, coaching and support to team members.
Responsibilities, expectations and accomplishments:
Operational Costs:
- Coordinated the efforts and activities of the operations staff to continually
drive cost down in an efficient approach with respect to key production/operatio
nal indicators.
- Spearheaded the restructuring and incorporation of a detailed employee time re
cording process.
- Developed, and coached continuous improvement teams with focus on safety impro
vment, quality improvement, equipment and people efficiencies, equipment tooling
, work instructions, facility heating / lighting and inventory control and plann
ing.
Human Resourses
- Directly responsibile for Human Resourse activities and functions. That includ
ed being the team leader of the interviewing and hiring process, training and co
aching of existing personnel and new hires for the operations in both office and
shop.
- Developed and implemented a yearly Performance Appraisal which included tracka
ble goals and objectives. The PA was utilized by corporate HR to revise the comp
anies existing appraisal process.
- Fostered and incorporated a Weekly Employee Meeting. This was an informational
meeting held each week with the enire operational team. The meeting structure i
ncluded "safety" pertinent to the operation including OSHA requirements, "qualit
y" topics included current/YTD scrap, rework, customer issues and corrective mea
sures taken to prevent recurrance along with ISO 9001:2000 requirements, "open d
iscussion" which we talked and openly discussed topics brought up from the team.

- Introduced and continually strieved towards perfecting a structured Safety Pro


gram. By utilizing visual and audio aids provided by insurance companies I devel
oped and implemented a monthly safety training program that was both pertinent t
o the fabrication business as well as OSHA required training. I designed and tau
ght two OSHA required training programs for the operation. Portions of both were
incorporated with-in the corporations programs. They were Forktruck Operation
and the Lockout / Tagout Program.
Initiating a team concept around safety and the well being of each individual, t
he shop finished 2009 with 0 First-aid reportable, 0 Lost Time Accident and 0 OS
HA Recordable which is a tool being utilized to drive down Workers Compensation
costs in 2010.
- Designed the development and incorporation of a Comprehensive Evaluation Progr
am for employee understandment and promotional advancment.
Quality:
- Responsible for the implementation and maintainance of a structured quality ma
nagement system. There was no structured quality program at the facility prior t
o me joining in Jan. 2008. In February, the focus was directed towards the imple
mentation of a quality management system with-in the structure of ISO 9001:2000.
- Partnered with the Corporate Quality Manager to develop, coach and implement t
he system before years end.
- Designed, implemented and trained on the purpose and use of product work instr
uctions and equipment procedures.
- We initiated the 3rd party quality system audit with NFS, ISO auditors in July
. In November, 10 months after initiating the quality management system, the fir
st survaliance audit was conducted, successfully receiving approval for registra
tion.
- Spearheading the growth and strengthening the quality managment system concept
the "7 Step Problem Solving Approach" CA/PA, and "Continuous Improvement Progra
m" became instumental daily tools.
- Initiated the development and lead the training of the ISO 9001:2000 procedure
s that the QMS system requires yearly training on.
- In September of 2009, the second year ISO quality system audit was scheduled w
ith NSF, and again received approval for registration.
- In June of 2008 I attended the QAI training sessions and became a certified IS
O 9001:2000 Internal Quality Auditor.

Employment at a ductile iron foundry in Reedsburg, WI. for 35 years. As a non-ex
empt employee, positions were held in Quality Control, Process Control, Metallur
gy and Supervisor Assistance. I had a driving committment to learn all I could f
or advancement into management. My preperation and drive offered various levels
of advancement in a rapidly growing company.
- The management positions held from latest to earliest were:

Night Quality Supervisor:
- Each leadership position offered unlimited opportunities working with-in plant
, corporate and contracted engineering focus teams for improved ergonomics in wo
rk place layout, product flow, improved efficiencies (both machine and personnel
), elimination of unsafe conditions and improved quality.
- Fostered the development and growth of team Leads and Supervisors while managi
ng departments from 5 people to as many as 175 people across three shifts.
- I attended training classes and became the team leader in both safety improvem
ents and continuous improvement groups.
- Championed a weekly brainstorming session with Manufacturing Superintendents,
Quality Engineers, and Industrial Engineers to achieve the lowest processing cos
ts while improving the products contribution and quality.
- Initiated final cost downs with corporate sales managers to present formal pre
sentatons to customers.

April 2004 thru July 2007


As a seasonal worker (April through July) with United Cooperative my responsibil
ities included:
- Blending ingrediants for both liquid and dry fertilizers.
- Fill anhydrous ammonia transport tanks.
- Deliverd fertilizer blends and anhydrous ammonia to farmers with-in a four cou
nty radius.

Military Experience:
In 1972 I enlisted into the US Army during the Vietnam era. I received top secre
t clearance in the field of nuclear weapons electronics receiving an honorable d
ischarge in 1974. Because I enlisted into the armed forces while employed at the
foundry, my length of servise continued while in the US Army.

High Shool degree obtained at Webb High School, Reedsburg WI.
UW Milwaukee, Supervisory Management (4 credited courses)
