Largest US based Pan-Latin American Health System, which owns and operates priva
te acute care hospitals in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The hospitals are all
accredited by either the Joint Commission or Canadian Council on Hospital Accre
ditation, the companys 2009 net revenues were $250 million USD with 10 acute car
e hospitals and 3 more hospitals under development, over 4,000 credentialed medi
cal staff and over 5,500 employees.
Reporting directly to Corporate CEO with operational performance oversight and r
esponsibilities for the regional hospitals. With 35+ direct reports responsible
for key aspects of hospital performance and occasionally filling CEO roles in-co
untry as needed. Responsible for operations including accreditations, patient sa
fety programs, physician loyalty programs, research, marketing, information tech
nology, supply chain, academic affiliations, insurance contracting and clinical

Saved $1.8 million annually and reduced inventory days by 21% by instituting gl

CIMA San Jose is a critical access acute care hospital in San Jose Costa Rica wi
th a rich history of being Costa Ricas premier acute care hospital and the marke
t leader with a positive operating margins ranging from $22-25 million USD. Alth
ough the hospital had reached a 24% EBITDA in the past, the hospital had experie
nced a decline in the operating performance in fiscal year 2009 and looming unio
n threat. After implementing a six month turn-a-round plan; recruiting and mento
ring a new hospital COO, CNO and Patient Safety Officer the hospitals trend was
reversed and regained its market share generating a 17 % EBITDA within the first
six months and the labor force rejecting the entry of a union.

CIMA Hermosillo is a critical access acute care hospital in Hermosillo Mexico wi
th a history of positive operating margins ranging from $18-22 million USD and a
dominant market share position. Although the hospital reached a significant mil
estone in becoming the first Joint Commission accredited hospital in the State o
f Sonora, the hospital experienced a decline in the operating performance in fis
cal year 2008. As the interim hospital CEO, the hospitals trend was reversed and
regained its market share and generated a 28 % EBITDA in first six months.
