Quality Manager Cedar Rapids Iowa 2007 - 2010
This company serves many companies within the U.S. as well as overseas. These c
ompanies require suppliers for light steel manufacturing of parts like brackets,
plates, and covers as examples for farming and road construction.
* East Moline Metal Products Co. 2007 to 2010
o I assisted engineering with the introduction of new products, where capability
needed to be evaluated prior to releasing the bid to the customer.
o I assisted in upholding Customer standards with sub-contract suppliers for the
company, which included proper packaging of parts to prevent damage during tran
sportation.
o I negotiated customer change is quality standards and provided instructions to
the factory to prevent factory mistakes.
o I was responsible for developing training for inspectors and hired experienced
personnel to add strength in the inspection area. This was accomplished by tra
ining, coaching, mentoring, and trouble shooting for root cause on customer note
d complaints.
o I was responsible for passing three ISO survey audits and six customer audits

ompanies require heavy steel manufacturing of parts in kit form for farming, roa
d construction, and rail transportation equipment.
* Pickwick Manufacturing Services, 2005 - 2007
o I assisted engineering with the introduction of new products, Quality standard
s, and the personnel turnover rate that was slowing down productivity for an upt
rend company. My responsibility was to update the procedures and put them in pl
ace. This effort required me to be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week to hand
le questions about the interpretation of the quality standards.
o I assisted in changing the paint process by training paint quality standards t
o the paint associates. I assisted the paint process by helping improve the cle
aning & curing process in two facilities for a powder and wet paint process. Th
is process was causing delays and customer rejects. Estimated savings for the f
irst year after this fix was $150,000.00.
o I was part of the management support for cellular type process in two types of
business. This required the use of lean manufacturing and building a team atmo
sphere with cross training on all shifts. This allowed the company to accept a
one million dollar contract for the railroad industry.
o I was responsible for developing training for inspectors and hired experienced
personnel to add strength in the inspection area for training, coaching, mentor
ing, and trouble shooting for root cause on the spot.
o I was responsible for developing a relationship with customers as a contact in
order to resolve any product issues on a timely manner.
o I provided guidance with receiving personnel on quality issues with receiving
parts. This was accomplished by setting up a robust inspection area for incomin
g purchased material.

* PMX Industries, INC, 2003 - 2005
o I was responsible for material specifications and to ensure that customer spec
ifications were being met. Communicated with machine operators, process control
, and supervisors to correct quality defects. I was on call to resolve issues t
o keep the process of material on time.
o I was responsible for analyzing cost of labor and materials to become more eff
icient and reduce late material fees. Once the visibility was established the m
anagers were able to experience an estimated $160,000.00 a year savings.
o I was assigned the responsibly for improving accuracy of communication about c
ustomer complaints concerning alloy composition and physical properties and prov
ide customer-focused service. This allowed the company to reach out to 4 new cu
stomers with the use of high copper based alloys in automotive industries. The f
irst year contract was for $850,000. Follow on contracts were over $1,000,000.

* Process Metallurgy Engineer, PMX Industries 1999- 2003


o I was part of an engineering team that was responsible for researched new prop
erties for metal alloys used in new electronic components.
o My responsibility was to developed programs to perform trials of new metal all
oys used in metal forming process.

* Provide process flow that reduces the buildup of material on hand by improves
on time delivery from 80% to 97% in one year. The second year the on time deliv

This company is an international manufacturer of electronic parts and equipment
for government and avionic industries.

o I was assigned customer's products and the control of their documentation and
product quality. I was also required to provide documentation control for newly
engineered products. I audited and updated procedures for document control of
radio units, including classified projects.
o I acted as lead person on proposal writing team for contracts submitted to cus
tomers. Responsible for making key Process and Quality presentations to custome
rs.
* Quality Assurance Engineer, 1979-1988
o I was assigned to develop standards for military products using new design and
technology. I also monitored assembly productivity.
o The new technology required new procedures for inspection and assembling the p
roduct. I was responsible for both quality inspection procedures and that manuf
acturing procedures meet the new engineering design product requirements.
o Saved $2 million in two years by resolving new technology issues that prevente
d on time shipment to various military customers. This effort opened up a new m
arket for the company.
* Chemical and Metallurgical Supervisor, 1970-1979
o I was responsible for 12 chemists and engineers in the lab. Developed staff f
or future promotions. Resolved problems with analytical equipment, test procedu
res, and made recommendations to prevent any further problems in testing in the
laboratory and any assembly process related issues.
o I investigate module failure in helicopters & spotter planes in the company su
pplied equipment and developed methods to prevent gumming up a clutch device for
the autopilot module which in turn caused a near disaster. A cleaning method a
nd preventive action was developed to prevent any further failures for the auto
pilot module.
o I was responsible for developing a cleaning method for electronic equipment in
volved in "on board" airplane fires. The fire was doused with chlorinated chemic
al foam, which penetrated the moisture protection of the modules. After cleanin
g and testing, a moisture protective coating was again applied to protect the pa
rts in their normal environment on board the air transport vehicle.
