I daily supervised the unloading of the store's general merchandise and grocery
truck shipments with five to seven of the store's general merchandise unloaders.
I also supervised the completion of the store's nightly second shift pick list
of between five hundred and twelve hundred picks with two to four backroom inve
ntory associates. The pick list is a system generated list of needs that are to
be pulled from the stock room bins for stocking on the sales floor.

The job tasks were the same as in my later tenure as a Receiving Associate. Thi
s was a full-time third-shift position that I was employed along with my positio
n as Co-Owner of The Whitt Company.

Managed the overall operations of the baby furniture specialty store. My respon
sibilities included:
Employee Relations:
My on-going responsibility was to continually manage the hiring and training of
the store's sales staff.
Vendor Relations:
I made all product purchase and replenishment decisions. My responsibility was
to bring in products that the customer wanted, were profitable for the business
and would make the business grow.
Goal Setting:
On a daily basis I set company and individual sales goals for the business. On
a weekly and monthly basis I established goals through budgets for all projected
revenue and operating expenses. As a part of the accounts payable responsibilit
y, I handled the payment of all company expenditures.
Customer Service:
When needed I was called upon to work with customers in taking care of any busin
ess-related issues they might have.
Marketing and Advertising:
I handled any discussions or negotiations that involved any marketing or adverti
sing issues. On a continual basis my company was investing funds into local tele
vision and radio and direct mail advertising.
Financial Management:
On a monthly and annual basis I was responsible for generating all the financial
reports for the business that would be needed by the company's accountant. I a
lso produced the monthly sales tax report and handled making the actual payments
. Each year, I was also responsible for completing a company physical inventory
.
After going through a process of trying to sell the business, we came to the dec
ision to close in December of 2007.
