Unit Collections Manager
February 2005 - April 2010

Managed a team of up to 20 employees to service and collect on a student loan po
rtfolio of pre-charge off accounts. The portfolio size ranged from $25M to $75M
plus depending on the line of business and/or delinquency. Adhered to FDCPA in
relation to 1st and 3rd party collection activity.
Strong time management was paramount due to the aggressive goals assigned. Mont
hly team and corporate goals were met and exceeded on a regular basis. Responsi
ble for approving paid time off and managing overtime costs, based on performanc
e and business needs. Audited and approved each employee timesheet on a bi-week
ly basis. Constant coaching, training and strong supervision needed to keep the
team on track and help ensure success. Tracked attendance, performance and con
duct records for each employee via Excel spreadsheets. These records were used
to provide positive re-enforcement and in some cases reward employees with month
ly monetary awards. However, these records also served as a tool to correct una
cceptable behavior through PDA (progressive disciplinary action) write ups. Per
formed relief management assignments, overseeing 50 plus employees which include
d two or more managers. Participated in conference calls and provided input to
the SVP and department heads to address performance and audit issues for each co
llection center. Duties also included conducting interviews and providing human
resources with a decision to offer employment or a promotion.

Managed all payables and receivables according to GAAP through utilization of Qu
ickBooks Enterprise accounting software. Duties included reconciling weekly e
xpenditure reports for multiple executives and employees throughout the US and C
anada. Coded, input and matched all vendor invoices to corresponding purchase o
rders and verified shipping documents. Reconciled current vendor invoices with
monthly account statements. Completed the accounts payable check run on a weekl
