Act I - Sara

EXT. / STREET – DAY

Scene I

SARA: Dirty clothes, wet hair, blade in her right hand, vertical cut
on her left hand, blood.

She’s still, her head slightly leaning forward.

OFF VOICE

SARA – (low tone of voice, scared) I’m lost, I don’t know where I
am. A place so calm and at the same time so confusing, I only know
I’m not okay!* (In a dark background, diffused words appear forming
the film’s title; slowly, the sound of a train coming close can be
heard.). (anxious) He’s about to arrive.

Act II – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / TRAIN STATION – DAY

Scene I

SARA: Normal clothes, glasses, hair in a bun with a rubber band,


backpack.

She’s alone, leaning to a car.

Scene II

DIOGO: Black clothes, goth bracelets, guitar, and a small suitcase.

DIOGO leaves the station and walks to SARA.

SARA is still at a short distance from Diogo while he’s approaching.

OFF VOICE

SARA – He only brings one suitcase, how long will he stay?

DIOGO – (enthusiastically) SARA, I missed you so much. (They hug)


You are… (he pulls apart) the same!

SARA – (frightened by DIOGO’s unexpected reaction) But you are so


different!

(Não) Estou bem!
DIOGO – (smiling) Not at all. Shall we go?

The camera is still while they’re going to the garden, walking away.

OFF VOICE

At the same time.

DIOGO – (confused) maybe I shouldn’t have come…

SARA – How long will he stay?

They both smile at each other.

Act III – SARA, DIOGO and Girls 1,2 e 3

EXT. / GARDEN – DAY

SCENE I

SARA and DIOGO

At the garden, they look at each other silently. Between them, is


tension, shame and tears. They lean to each other.

OFF VOICE

SARA – Who is he? We met five years ago and didn’t even get along.

SCENE II

Girls 1, 2 e 3: pop style, make-up, purses, wearing sunglasses and


looking chic.

SARA and DIOGO are still leaning the same way.

Behind them, three girls appear and walk past them without knowing
they’re there.

DIOGO and SARA are behind and the girls walk towards the camera.

GIRL 1 – (in a critical and smug tone) Really! That SARA is


sooooooooo disgusting!

GIRL 2 – (approvingly) Yeah, those glasses are so last season.

GIRL 3 – (indifferent) I just think she’s annoying, but she seems a


good person. (she laughs) When she brushes her teeth!

SCENE III

DIOGO – (worried) I have to go…

SARA tries to express herself but she can’t, and so she stays
sitting down while DIOGO gets up and walks away.

SARA gets up with her backpack on her back and stands.

The sun sets.

Act IV – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / SCHOOL – DAY

SCENE I (the entrance of the school is filled with different people)

SARA: Normal chothes, glasses, backpack on her back.

DIOGO: Dark clothes, metal and goth bracelets.

SARA is at the entrance, while DIOGO who is far away, walks to her.

DIOGO – (waving at a certain distance, and we can’t hear clearly)


Come with me!

SARA – Okay.

OFF VOICE

SARA – But where?

ACT V – SARA and DIOGO

SARA: Normal clothes, glasses, backpack on her back.

DIOGO: Dark clothes, metal and goth bracelets.

EXT./INT. / HOME – NIGHT

They both go into the house. Each one goes to their room. DIOGO
turns the music on quickly. SARA comes out of her room and listens
through the door to what’s going on inside the room. She slides down
DIOGO’s door until she’s sitting and she stays that way, grabbing
her knees; her hands grabbing her head, covering her ears.

OFF VOICE

(Não) Estou bem!
SARA – (screaming) NO!

The days go by, and our relationship isn’t the same it was five
years ago. He got lost.

ACT VI – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / GARDEN – DAY

SCENE I

SARA is sitting in the garden, listening to music and reading a


book.

SARA: Dark clothes, wearing no glasses, and a dark backpack.

SCENE II

DIOGO comes by.

DIOGO: the usual style.

DIOGO – (sleepy) Good morning, SARA. You’re coming with me, today.

SARA – (agreeing) Okay…

ACT VII – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / ABANDONED HOUSE – DAY

SCENE I

SARA and DIOGO are about to go into an abandoned house in which


there are already three boys, and a few girls who laugh wildly.

ACT VIII – SARA, DIOGO, FRED, LUÍS, CHICO and a few girls

INT. / ABANDONED HOUSE – NIGHT

SCENE I

Fred, Luís and Chico: casual clothing.

(Não) Estou bem!
Laughing can be heard from every direction causing some sort of na
echo.

Everyone has a cigarette in their hand, the room is full of


smoke, the surroundings are pleasant.

FRED – SARA, do you want some? (shows her the cigarette)

OFF VOICE

SARA – Sure. (takes it)

SARA starts smoking, passes the cigarette to DIOGO who passes


it to a girl. DIOGO stands up, takes SARA’s hand; it’s time to
go.

ACT IX – SARA, DIOGO, GIRLS 1, 2 and 3

EXT. / HOUSE – SUNRISE

SCENE I

DIOGO comes in quickly. SARA, follows him, slowly.

We hear someone falling.

SCENE II

GIRLS 1, 2 and 3

(while SARA closes the door, the camera is filming the front of the
house)

OFF VOICE

GIRL 1 – They’re crazy!

GIRL 2 – You should die, SARA.

GIRL 3 – (laughing) Freaks.

ACT X – SARA and DIOGO

INT. / HOUSE – SUNRISE

SCENE I

The house is dark. Only a few candles lit the place.

(Não) Estou bem!
DIOGO goes into his room, SARA stays by the door while he
closes it, looking through the keyhole. She sees DIOGO cutting
himself, blood dripping from his wrist while he’s sitting on
the floor.

ACT XI – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / GARDEN – MORNING

SCENE I

SARA and DIOGO walk together half-hugging each other on the garden -
SARA is on the right side and DIOGO on the left, his left arm barely
moving due to the cuts. We can see new bracelets on his wrist.

SARA – (curious and shy) You have new bracelets…?

DIOGO – (confused) Just some I bought near our place.

OFF VOICE

DIOGO – (sighing, stressed) She’s going to find out. I can’t handle


it anymore!

- SARA, I’m leaving tomorrow by the sunrise. It’s my last


night with you and I want to have a good time.

SARA is sad, and kisses his cheek.

ACT XII - FRED, CHICO, LUÍS, DIOGO, SARA, RANDOM GIRLS

INT. / ABANDONED HOUSE – NIGHT

SCENE I

FRED – (holding a cigarette) Welcome my dear DIOGO!

DIOGO – Hey, Fred! (runs his hand through his hair) It’s my last
night here.

LUÍS – So we heard. Do you have any?

DIOGO – No, nothing. Do you?

Luís looks at Chico.

(Não) Estou bem!
CHICO – Because it’s your last night (and gives him something
indistinguishable).

SARA stays still at the front door of the house, while everything is
happening; she then decides to sit down and put her things down as
well. They’re rolling a cigarette, and then start smoking it. When
it reaches SARA, DIOGO leaves the room.

SARA – Here, Fred. (gives him the cigarette).

OFF VOICE

SARA – (a little dizzy, she stands up) – I… I know something’s


wrong.(she goes to the toilet, where DIOGO is; she opens the door
and finds him sniffing) We have to go. (she looks at him menacing
and worried)

DIOGO – (his eyes closed, leaning into the sink) – Lets go.

ACT XIII

The camera is filming the sky, as if they were in a car in movement.

ACT XIV – SARA and DIOGO

INT. / HOUSE – MORNING

SCENE I

SARA knocks on DIOGO’s bedroom door, but no answer was heard. She
opens it, carefully, and finds him lying on the floor, a large pool
of blood dripping from his cut arm; he’s very pale. In his eyes are
tears.

OFF VOICE

SARA – (terrified, on her knees, sad tone of voice) – You left, and
didn’t even say goodbye? I hate you.

ACT XV – SARA, GIRLS 1, 2 and 3

EXT. / STREET – AFTERNOON

(Não) Estou bem!
SCENE I

SARA

SARA leaves the house with the clothes of the night before, dirty.

The camera films her, closely

Her make-up is smudged due to the tears that keep falling. She’s
wearing headphones, just concentrating on the music.

SCENE II

SARA, GIRLS 1, 2, 3

Behind SARA, without her noticing are three girls.

The camera films from behind SARA.

GIRL 2 – (ironic) Poor her, she’s alone. And the boyfriend?!

SARA takes one of the headphones out.

GIRL 3 – Did he finally die? (laughs)

The camera shoots SARA again.

SARA starts crying, as she listens to the voices of the girls


echoing in her head; she runs her hand through her eyes and cheeks
to help the tears from falling.

The camera films from behind again.

GIRL 1- (ironic) – Poor her, she’s crying.

SARA takes a bloody razor blade out of her jacket; her hand is dirty
with blood too. She puts her hand up so that the girls stop bugging
her. They stop walking; SARA goes in the direction of the garden
where it all started.

ACT VI - SARA

EXT. / GARDEN – AFTERNOON

SCENE I

SARA (is sitting)

(Não) Estou bem!
SARA – (crying) I kept the blade with which you killed yourself, you
know? (irritated and screaming) And I think it’s my passport to you,
(she holds the blade high, looking to the sky) will you wait for me?

ACT XVII – SARA and DIOGO

SCENE I

OFF VOICE

Images start flashing across the screen

SARA – This monstens won’t leave me alone…

DIOGO - …they whisper sentences of pain and abnormal complexity.

ACT XVIII – SARA and DIOGO

EXT. / GARDEN – AFTERNOON

SCENE I

SARA and DIOGO

OFF VOICE

SARA and DIOGO – I’m going to run away (SARA starts running). I’m
going to run. (She runs into a forest) I’m going to kill myself.

SARA stops running and cuts herself for the first time. Keeps on
running.

ACT XIX - SARA

EXT. / STREET – SUNSET

SCENE I

SARA’s clothes are even dirtier, she’s left behind her jacket, her
trainers and she’s only wearing a t-shirt, her make-up smudged.

SARA – (standing) DIOGO, I’m stronger now.

OFF VOICE

SARA – (in a scared, low tone of voice) I’m going to live to die. I
love you (screaming)! (confused and sad) why are you always
abandoning me?

ACT XX – SARA with FRIENDS

EXT. / GARDEN - MORNING

SCENE I

SARA is dressed in white, hanging out with some friends. She’s happy
now. She managed to overcome her fears and problems.
