SEISMIC RETROFITS:
Hospitals
* Sequoia Hospital - Redwood City, CA $26M (301,800 sf)
SPC-2 Upgrades & Article 10 Deficiencies. The Hospital is a multiple story stru
cture varying from a one (1) story to a four (4) story structure that is compris
ed of ten (10) structures. The additional structures were added during the years
from 1948 to1975. The seismic upgrade consisted of extended footings, shear wa
lls, dowels, steel strapping and negative air containment barriers.

Manufacturing
* Kraft Manufacturing Building 1A - San Leandro, CA $3.6M (92,038 sf)
The reinforced concrete warehouse is a three (3) story manufacturing plant that
was built in 1949. The lateral force seismic retrofit system consisted of extend
ed footings, exterior shear walls, dowels, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP), steel
strapping and concrete drag beams.
Hotels
* Palace Hotel Renovation Project - San Francisco, CA $88M (346,124 sf)
The nine (9) story steel frame structure with concrete encased columns was const
ructed in 1908 and additional structure work in 1950 and 1989. The seismic retr
ofit includes new shear walls to increase lateral strength and stiffness and new
steel brace frames with energy dissipating devises that increase the damping ch
aracteristics. The work also includes an exterior and interior historical resto
ration as well as interior improvements.

* Canterbury Hotel and Whitehall Inn Renovation Project - San Francisco, CA $45M
The Canterbury Hotel is a ten (10) story concrete building and the Whitehall Inn
is a four (4) story steel framed building with wood sub flooring. The work at
the Canterbury Hotel consisted of interior renovations. The work at the Whiteha
ll Inn included shearwalls,seismic bracing and construction of a basement tunnel
connecting the two buildings. The work also included the conversion of hotel ro
oms to suites and replacement of finishes throughout.
Commercial Residential
* Jamestown Residential Condominium Phase I - San Francisco, CA $9M (137,105 sf)
Jamestown Residential Condominums is a projected in which eleven (11) residentia
l structures were slated to be built. The project was shut down in 2007 in whic
h three (3) structures were under construction and the remaining nine (9) struct
ures had not begun construction. Two (2) of the structures were approxiately 85
% to completion, while two (2) stuctures which were built on a podium deck over
an above grade parking garage were left at approximatly 50% to completion. The
structures are wood frame with stucco exterior finish.
* 717 Market Street Lofts - San Francisco, CA $25M (122,705 sf)
Conversion of an existing office bu
ilding to residential condominium units. The project included interior, structur
al and MEPS demolition. Included in the scope was a seismic retrofit and constr
uction of 45 residential units and two (2) new rooftop penthouse residential sui
tes.

* Centennial Tower Residences - Hayward, CA $51M (236,250 sf)


The conversion of an existing twelve (12) story office building into 164 residen
tial condominium units. The project included the addition of two (2) new storie
s to the existing structure and construction of a new thirteen (13) story struct
ure that tied into the existing structure. The project included interior, struct
ural, and MEPS demolition and a seismic retrofit.

Office
* 450 Pacific Law Offices - San Francisco, CA $10M (236,250 sf)
Seismic upgrade and complerte tennant improvement build out to an unreinforced m
asonry and timber structure. Four (4) floors above grade (no parking garage.)

EDUCATION:
Elementary and University
* Haven's Elementary School - Piedmont, CA $22.5 M (55,791 sf)
A single story wood frame elementary school project governed by DSA regulations.
The structure was built on a grade beam and slab on grade foundation. The bui
lding is one (1) story throughout with the exception of the south wing which is
two (2) stories. Typical programs suited for an elementary level education faci
lity included; classrooms, multi-purpose room, library, teacher's lounge and su
pport offices.
* Stanford Roble Hall CIP Renovation - Stanford, CA $11M (85,184 sf)
The construction scope of Roble Hall Residences was governed by DSA regulations.
The scope included a seismic retrofit, the addition of a new elevator, convert
ing the bathrooms to ADA compliant facilities and a tenant improvement to the in
terior structure and exterior architectural features.

* Redwood City School District Bond Project Phase II - Redwood City, CA $49M
New construction and underground utilities for thirteen (13) existing middle sch
ool campuses's governed by DSA regulations. Construction included new library m
edia centers, classroom buildings and multi-purpose buildings; at one select sch
ool a full size basketball court and food service area was constructed.

* Redwood City School District Bond Project Phase III - Redwood City, CA $10M
Modernization of 13 existing middle school campuses. Existing multi-purpose roo
ms were converted to library media centers and existing classrooms were converte
d to administration facilities.

NEW CONSTRUCTION:
Residential and Health Care Facilities
* Octavia Gateway Residences - San Francisco, CA $26M (70,153 sf)
New eight (8) story condominium and commercial mixed use structure. The structu
re is cast-in-place concrete with post tension decks. The project included a on
e (1) story below grade parking structure. Complete build out of 49 condominium
units with a curtainwall exterior finish.

* 1868 Van Ness Avenue Condominiums - San Francisco, CA $23M (58,487 sf)
New eight (8) story condominium and commercial mixed use cast-in-place concrete
structure over a two (2) story parking structure. Complete build out of 35 cond
ominium units with an exterior stucco finish.

* Episcopal Home Foundation Life Care Facility - Lafayette, CA $12M (49,200 sf)
New eight (8) story cast-in-place concrete structure. The project included cons
tructing 20 residential units, below grade parking structure and a pedestrian br
idge to access a health care facility located across the street.

* Oak Center Towers Adult Day Care Center - Oakland, CA $6M (18,495 sf)
New two (2) story cast-in-place concrete structure with post tension decks. Incl
uded in the project was a one (1) level below grade parking structure and trench
es at the perimeter for natural ventilation to the garage level.

Restaurants
* Epic and Waterbar Restaurants - San Francisco, CA $10M (5,600 sf)
Cold Shell and exterior site work. The project has two (2) freestanding restaur
ants on adjacent sides of a european style piazza. The surrounding park area was
completely landscaped.

Miscellaneous
* Mozart Car Museum - Mountain View, CA $13M (26,100 sf)
Construction of a structural steel shell building which includes high end glazin
g and metal cladding at the exterior. Project also includes open web bow trusse
s and metal mesh ceiling panels through out, site concrete and landscaping.

* Palace of Fine Arts Phase IIA, IIB - San Francisco, CA $11M


Lagoon restoration and new aeration system, dredging, sheet piles, landscaping a
nd site concrete. The project included a seismic retrofit and restoration of th
e Colonnade and Rotunda.

Athletic Pavilion
* UC Berkeley Basketball Pavilion - Berkeley, CA $25M (41,816 sf)
The UC Berkley Basketball Pavilion Project is a practice facility and support of
fices. The cast in place concrete structure is slated to tie into the existing
sports facility.

Foundation Piles
* Buena Vista Landfill Entrance Facility - Santa Cruz, CA $150,000
Steel HP foundation piles for a new two (2) story office facility.

* Sonoma State University Green Music Center - Sonoma, CA $500,000


Pre-cast concrete foundation piles for a new two (2) story music center.

* Alvarado Boulevard Trunk Sewer Phase I - Fremont, CA ($1M)


Sheet pile and whaler system shoring pits for receiving and jacking stations.

* Mare Island Containment Barrier - Mare Island, CA ($2M)


The scope of construction consisted of 7,200 LF of GSE Gun Wall containment barr
iers to encapsulate an area where hazard material was determined to exist at sub
surface.

* Natoma Pumping Plant Phase I - Sacramento, CA ($200,000) Pre-cast concrete fou


ndation piles for a new pumping plant and retaining walls.

* San Francisco Asphalt Plant - San Francisco, CA ($150,000)


Pre-cast concrete foundation piles for a new silo and weigh station.

* Flannery and McCormack Road Bridges - Rio Vista, CA ($100,000)


Concrete foundation piles for the widening of two existing bridges.

* Miller Road Bridge - Colusa County, CA ($100,000)


Pre-cast concrete foundation piles for the reconstruction of an existing bridge.

PORTS AND MARINE:


* Port of San Francisco Pier 35 Cruise Ship Terminal - San Francisco, CA ($3M)
Interior demolition and tenant improvement to an existing warehouse facility.
Construction scope included the terminal entrance, first lobby, security-screeni
ng lobby, passenger corridor, baggage claim, passenger off loading areas and ext
erior apron.

* Water Transit Authority Oyster Point and Slot Ferry Terminals - San Francisco,
CA ($25M)
New ferry passenger terminal, staff and maintenance facilities. Construction sc
ope included, underground utilities, earthwork, foundation piles, and cold rolle
d structural framing. The passenger loading dock required dredging, off shore p
iles, bulkheads, floating dock, habitat and shoreline improvements.

* Oakland Estuary and UC Berkeley Crew Shoreline Improvement - Oakland, CA ($1M)


Shoreline grading for revetment and slope dressing improvements, dredging, concr
ete foundation piles and off shore piles, floating dock, earthwork, and concrete
deck panels.

UNDERGROUND UTILITIES:
* Bay Area Rapid Transit Warm Springs Extension - San Jose, CA ($20 M)
Relocation of existing underground an
d overhead utilities along a three mile corridor proposed for an extension of th
e BART passenger train system.

* Department of Public Works 54" Main Water Line Rehabilitation - San Francisco,
CA
Two miles of the main water pipe along Junipero Serra was shut down from operati
on and opened up for interior renovation. The interior pipe was cleaned, blemis
hes were spot-welded and the entire length of pipe received a one-inch thick pro
tective cement mortar lining. Included in the work were cutting and removing a
segment of the pipe and installing a 42 inch butterfly valve.

* San Francisco International Airport Underground Utility Project - San Francisc

Installation of underground utilities at the San Francisco International Airport
. Project included bringing the newly constructed private AMR Combs Airport on
line with the existing SFO underground utility system.

* Housing & Urban Development Demolition of Acorn Housing - Oakland, CA


Interior and exterior abatement, demolition of SOG, spread footings and undergro
und site utilities of a seven (7) acre multi family housing complex.
