Provide highly effective technical leadership managing key IT functions for thi
s manufacturing company. Collaborate with key personnel across the firm to defin
e needs and develop cost-effective solutions. Focus efforts heavily
on improving network performance, security, and accessibility. Duties include ju
stifying and purchasing hardware and software, general network administration, u
ser training and support, backups and data security, and manufacturing computer
support. Responsibilities also include managing daily tape media backup to an of
f-site storage location.
a Designed and managed all aspects of implementation and support for a virtual e
nvironment based on a SAN with RAID and hot spares, redundant ESX servers, power
sources, L3 switches and network connectivity resulting in a significant improv
ement in overall network performance and sharp reduction in service failures.
a Replaced Layer-2 switches and hubs with Cisco switches with dual connections t
o core, and upgraded single-run network cabling to redundant CAT6, thereby remov
ing single points of failure.
a Replaced a single failed firewall with 2 duplicate new firewalls to achieve im
proved network user experience, and ported roles from physical servers to single
-purpose virtual servers.
a Moved a heavily-used folder from an XP PC to a virtual server to eliminate acc
ess failures to critical company data, and devised and implemented a method allo
wing outside users to access corporate resources in a secure and efficient fashi

Worked to move the company from El Cajon, California to Post Falls, Idaho.
Consulted with contractors concerning the configuration of office and meeting s
pace. Installed and supported servers in Post Falls which were moved from the Ca
lifornia location. Installed and supported an NEC IPS
phone system consisting of a Call Center, Voice Mail, and PBX server hardware. P
rovided desktop installation and support services as employees began to work.
a Built and supported a 10 server SAN with fiber channel connectivity.
a Maintained all hardware and software maintenance contracts and ensured timely
renewal.
a Managed weekly movement of backup media between Buck and an off-site storage l
