Recruited to administer and support network infrastructure for multiple task for
ce communications sites in a 24/7 fast-paced, stressful and austere environment.
Promoted within 6 months as Site Lead to build and support new communications s

Provide technical expertise to identify needs, design solutions and resolve crit
ical issues. Install, configure, administer and ensure optimal uptime of Windows
2003 / 2008 domain controllers, messaging, file, DHCP, print and video servers;
Dell EMC2 SANS CD3-20 and DX4-120 storage controllers; Veritas NetBackup and Co
mmVault servers; Tandberg, Poly-Com and video conferencing systems; Pacwind, Pir
ahna and Optibase video dissemination systems and Digital Video Broadcast-Return
Channel via System; TacLane 175A, 175D and 250 encryption devices; and Cisco 28
00, 2900, 3800, 3900, 3560, and 3750 series routers / switches. Monitor network
performance, and provide Tier 1, 2 and 3 level support to up to 700 users and co
mputer / network systems across multiple domains. Collaborate with multiple bran
ches of U.S. military to provide network connectivity to users throughout Afghan

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Migrated entire 400-node, 15 server infrastructure as task force moved from te
nts to buildings with zero service interruption. Purchased $1.2 million of new e
quipment; planned and oversaw the deployment of grounding kits, cable troths and
CAT5 fiber; set-up fiber patch panels and servers; configured 60+ routers and s
witches; deployed TacLane 175A, 175D and 250 encryption devices for network secu
rity; implemented VLANs; designed business continuity strategy; and migrated all
7 networks within 20 hours. Set-up global multicast IP DVB-RCS infrastructure t
o enable additional sites to view feeds and created SharePoint portal for site.
Chosen as Level 3 administrator with full permission on routing / switching infr
astructure.
- Selected and successfully built a new communications site in Afghanistan withi
n 72 hours. Set-up and configured 7 classified and unclassified networks to supp
ort user growth from 50 to more than 300. Deployed Windows 2003, and Cisco switc
hes and routers across Fiber communications infrastructure. Installed Riverbeds
for 2 separate networks that increased productivity by 50%. Supervised team of 9
and more than $2.7 million in technical assets.
- Rebuilt infrastructure for existing communications site in Afghanistan to enha
nce user's productivity across 2 separate classified networks. Migrated 10 serve
rs from Windows 2003 to 2008; set-up backup / recovery structure; and transferre
d all voice and data services with minimal disruption to operations.

- Recipient of prestigious Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation Medal and C
ivilian Humanitarian Award for providing optimal on-site technical support durin
g the Incident Specific Preparedness Review following container ship collision a
nd subsequent 54,000 gallons of oil spill in San Francisco Bay area. Selected by
upper management and successfully set-up workstations, peripherals, wireless co
nnectivity, and video conferencing capability at Hopkins Hotel to enable OSHA, S
afety and Health, and other government / civilian agencies to investigate and de
termine root causes.
- Chosen as Beta Tester for Remedy system and Vista platform. Provided correctiv
e actions that enabled the rollout of Remedy trouble ticketing system, and migra
tion of desktop computing environment from Windows XP to Vista.
- Coordinated and assisted in deploying Common Access Cards to 3,500+ users on C
oast Guard Island, enhancing security.
- Recognized for closing more than 3,100 trouble tickets within one year, the hi
ghest resolved tickets in District 11.
