Family quiz time

How well do the important people in your life really know you? Think of some questions to
find out. Here are some to get you started.
What is my favourite meal?
Who is my best friend?
How many brothers and sisters do I have? (parents/carers only)
Who do I sit next to in class? (child only)
Where was I born? (parents and carers only)
Lost
Think about anything that you have lost that you felt was particularly special. It might be a
favourite object or toy. It might be a friend who has moved away or a pet that has died. Take it in turns to
tell each other about your thoughts. You might like to draw a picture or write something to remind you.
Family collage or display
Make a list of the people in your family who are important to you. Try to include the people who you don't
see very often, important people you have never met and people who have died. Is there a special way of
helping you remember special people in your community or family?
Think about the things that remind you of these people. Collect things or pictures of these things and put
them in a display or make a collage.
If you were …
Take it in turns to finish the sentences for members of the family.
If you were an animal I think you would be ….
If you were a biscuit I think you would be …
If you were a piece of furniture I think you would be …
If you were a place I think you would be …
Make up some sentences of your own to finish.
If anyone has tried any of the activities suggested this term we would love to hear about it.

Children’s Achievements
Recently Charlotte Pullen in 5M and Aimee Irving in 1B appeared at the Albert Hall to perform with
their dance school—’Dance Act Theatre School’. Their piece was called Rain Mix and was a jazz
dance. Megan Sanderson in her dance group ‘Illuminate’ competed in ‘Starpower’, an American
competition in Central London. They did amazingly well, not only did they win the ‘Award of
Excellence’, the Victory Cup, win their category and achieve best overall 12-14 age group but were
awarded the ‘Triple Threat’ award. They were then chosen by the American industry judges to
represent the UK on the Starpower website, and if enough votes are achieved they will fly them to
Dallas, USA to represent the UK in the international competition.

Charity Fund Raising

The Lifeboat Collection box in school raised £8.81. Many thanks to those who made a
donation.

Last week the Governors Finance Committee held their

Local Authority governor. In her absence Mrs O’Brien took
the chair. They looked at the school development plan and financial implications for the
budget plan for 2011-2012. Part of their remit is also to consider any goods that need to be
written off. Their next formal meeting will be in September.
