Greece Paradise
Greece is the best choice for Fergus Falls, Kennedy Secondary School Senior Class
trip: for its diverse culture, various activities, and many historic events. Greece will
be a great learning experience for the students, and with the appropriate
Greece is filled with many educational and fun activities: with their historic
heritage, and beautiful Mediterranean waters, the Student will get to experience
things they couldn’t do else were. First on the Greek Agenda, is the Athens Concert
Hall; filled with many world-renowned musicians and performers, experiencing this
will bring the students to appreciate the work of music and art. The Concert Hall is
flooded with many events and programs: music, dance, theatre, education, and
exhibitions. Ext. All these different events are what make the Athens Concert Hall so
fantastic and inviting for all. Another place we are excited to let the students visit is
the Mediterranean Sea. The students will have a chance to scuba dive, after a
session of learning about some of the marine life they will be swimming with. This
experience we hope will spark many of the students interested in Marine life, for an
clean blue waters. The site we will be going to be close to the city of Athens so the
travel will be short. The Last full day we will be visiting one place is the Parthenon.
The Parthenon is an amazing historical site, and is one of the 7 wonders of the
worlds. Seeing this amazing building would be a great experience for the students,
because right now it is under reconstruction; as an attempt to save the beautiful
mystery of the Parthenon. We hope to get a chance to tour the Parthenon in hopes
to learn more about how they are reconstructing it, and they history behind the
Parthenon. All the following activities we will be doing, plus many more hold life
experiences for the students to take and hold for the future.
The culture and society of Greece will definitely make an impact on the students’
outlook on different countries way of life, and will prepare them for future travels.
One thing that the kids should be prepared to for is safety issues; crime, disease. All
theses are things the students will see in Greece, and will have to know how to
prevent them. The diseases in Greece that don’t cultivate in the United States might
be harmful to the students and the staff, so preparation will take place by asking
every parent whether their child/children have had their Hepatitis B shot, which is
recommended at birth, and updates on their routine shots; measles, mumps. Ext.
This knowledge of the vaccinations, and the vaccinations themselves is required for
the trip, and will keep the kid safe. Other cultural dangers include crime, but in
Greece the crime rate is not an issue. According to United States Department of
State OSAC Bureau of Diplomatic Security; “Statistic suggest that violent crime in
Greece is considerably less prevalent than in other European Countries.” This report
was issued on February 28, 2011. The crime in Greece has gone down, especially in
violent crime, this encouraged our decision in choosing Greece as the destination
for the senior trip. Another thing that we took in consideration in choosing our
location is the cultural impact the country will have on the students. The impact
Greece will have on the students will shape their knowledge and their experiences
for cultural tourism.” Greece is known for many of their beautiful terrain, buildings
and people, and letting the students experience it first hand would be worth wild.
speaking to the Greece citizens was another issue that came up, and to resolve that
tour guide that can speak Greek and English. This decision was made as a benefit
for the students, because now they can hear and know what the Greeks citizens are
saying. This is also good for if in need of an emergency, they can be taken care of
right away. The culture and Society of Greece is alot different to our country, and
experiencing that will show the students and teach them about what the world can
offer.
There are many preparations that go into planning a trip, and the
accomidations are one of the most important part. Choosing the flight route was the
first thing that had to be done. The flight will be a 2 stop flight, from Fargo to New
York, then New York to Athens Greece. The flight will be about 18 hours total and
the lay over from each flight will be short. Another question that came up for
planning tis trip was the housing. “Greece is one of the most popular tourist
placing it among the top ranked countries on the World Tourism Organization’s list
information we recieved with more then 352,000 rooms in almost every hotel, we
are positive finding housing will not be difficult and to make sure we are going to
book rooms 6 months ahead of time. Also for the rooms the students and
chaporones will be staying in are non smoking. The last question many had for us
dealing with accomidation is the issue of feeding the kids. we have agreed that we
will pay for the night and morning meals, but the students will have to pay for their
lunch and snack meals during the day. This compromise will make sure that
everyone gets fed during the day, without pushing the budget. All these thing that
went into planning the trip were very important, and the saftey aspect of it al made
a big influence on it, with were we are going to stay, eat and fly, all these are
important to take seriousely and i feel when in Greece the people there will be
