JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Parenting Coordinator - Secondment to 31 March 2012


DEPARTMENT: Children and Families Services
REPORTS TO: Strategic Services Manager
POST NO.:

1. PURPOSE OF JOB

Develop, embed and share good practice across statutory and voluntary
agencies in all aspects of the provision of parenting programmes

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Co-ordinate a Steering Group to identify appropriate range of parenting


provision and support across Denbighshire to ensure the work of
Parenting is supported, developed and quality assured

• To work with the Family Support Coordinator to ensure parenting provision


is an appropriate element of a family support programme to individual
families

• To work with statutory and voluntary agencies to evaluate the


effectiveness of Parenting Programmes

• To ensure delivery of a high level of evidence based practice, within the


area of responsibility, through the structured framework of policies, training
and supervision

• To communicate with individuals and multi-agency groups relating to the


promotion of integrated working and Parenting Programmes

• Work in cooperation with voluntary and statutory agencies to formulate an


engagement plan to actively involve individuals, families, groups and
community in the planning and delivery of a wide range of Parenting
Programmes

• Promote a multi-agency approach to the provision of parenting


programmes

• Develop networks to support personnel who are delivering Parenting


Programmes

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate records to provide information.

• Establish information resources promoting parenting programmes to


include making links with the Family Information Service

• Work with the Family Information Service Officer to establish Parenting
Programme database

• To promote parenting programmes to ensure good take up of Programmes

• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, guidance and good practice and
implement accordingly.

• Be a source of specialist knowledge for staff relating to government


legislation and guidance in relation to Parenting Programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
A relevant qualification in working with Essential Application Form
children – e.g. Diploma in Social Work or an
equivalent qualification in the Social Care,

EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years experience in delivering Essential Application Form

6. Dimensions

As well as working closely with the Family Support Coordinator (Team Around
the Family) and Family Information Service the post holder will be required to
work closely with a wide range of partner agencies and other community groups
