Character breakdown: Prior Walter: mid-20s to mid-30s, former drag queen, lives comfortably off of a small family trust, probably works occasionally as a caterer or club designer Louis: mid-20s to mid-30s, Prior's boyfriend. works as a word processor for the Court of Appeals. Neurotic and intellectual, afraid of pain and hardship. Joe: 30s, Chief Clerk for a Justice in the Court of Appeals, extremely devout Mormon, closeted homosexual fighting with his guilt. Caring and compassionate to others. Roy: 45-65, an extremely successful attorney, also a power-broker. Does most of his work schmoozing outside of the courtrooms. Lives by his own moral code. Closeted homosexual. Belize: mid-20s to mid-30s, Former lover of Prior's, former drag queen. Now works as a registered nurse. Belize loves Prior, but as a close friend and sister, not lover. The same is true for Prior to Belize. Also plays Mr. Lies. Hannah: 45-65, Joe's mother. Strong-willed and Matronly, a deep faith as a Mormon, but allows this to affect her for good. She has a deep love that she hides with toughness. She has a faith in humanity that might come off as naivet, but it is not. Also plays Roy's doctor and Ethel Rosenberg. Harper: mid-20s to mid-30s, Joe's agoraphobic wife. She also has a slight Valium addiction. She is extremely sensitive to the world around her, which is what forces her to hide away. When she takes Valium she is able to see the world without pain. She senses that Joe is a homosexual. Also plays Martin. Emily: Ageless, Prior's nurse, straightforward and down-to-earth, cares deeply about Prior's well-being. This actor also plays the homeless woman and The Angel/Voice.
