Understanding key concepts

Concepts such as equality, discrimination and prejudice are continuously contested in everyday conversations and in the media. Some people dismiss them as political correctness, thereby refusing to address the issues. The meanings also change as society changes. The definitions given here are commonly accepted in employment and social provisions and conform to the law today. Below - match the definition with the correct concept. Definition 1: The collective failure of an organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to people because of their colour, culture or ethnic origin. It can be seen or detected in processes, attitudes and behaviour which amount to discrimination through unwitting prejudice, ignorance, thoughtlessness and racist stereotyping which disadvantage minority ethnic people. Concept Please Select Definition 2: The provision of ways in which everyone, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, values, faith or religion or age can access services, training and jobs, so that we can all engage in and develop to the best of our abilities on an equal footing with others. Concept: Please Select Definition 3: Grouping or labelling people because they are members of a particular visible group and assuming that they have particular traits that are considered to be characteristic of that group.
