Introduction PC-Station is a

Minimum requirements It is recommended that you use a computer with at least 2.8GHz processor (Pentium IV) and 1GB RAM for one set (three terminals) of PC-Station NC300. Keyboard and mouse must have PS/2 connectors and monitors can be either CRT or LCD. Connector network cable must be Cat 6e and each cable running from the host to the terminals must not exceed a maximum length of 10m. The operating system of the host PC must be Windows 2000, Windows XP (Service Pack 3 is recommended) or Windows 2003 Server.

Installation First make sure that the host computers VGA driver is properly installed and that incompatible software is removed (see Troubleshooting 1.) Crimp (all ends must be crimped according to T-568A or T-568B StraightThrough cabling method) all your connecting network cables and connect all the terminals to the host PC via the installed PCI card. Next install the included PCI card on a free PCI slot and make sure it is securely held either by screws or by another mechanism. Install the software found in the included installation CD. When asked for serial number and activation key, enter the numbers found on the back of each of the terminals. After finishing the installation of the software, you can apply settings such as Enable auto logon

Troubleshooting
1. Incompatible computers It is known that Dell Optiplex 745, 750, 755, 790 computers are not compatible with PC-Station NC300. This is due to the shortage of free IRQs on the above mentioned models. Similarly, motherboards with the G33/31 Intel chipset are known to be incompatible with PC-Station NC300.

2. Common errors a. Winlogon error This is caused by a faulty version of windows XP. One known remedy is to reformat your computer with a proper issue of Microsoft Windows XP CD.

b. Internal error This is caused by either of two causes: 1. When the PC-Station software is properly installed but the required number of serial numbers and activation keys have not been entered. To remedy, just enter the additional serial number and activation keys. 2. The date of the host computer is incorrect causing the entered serial numbers to be recognized as expired. To remedy, just change the computer date to the correct current (European) date and restart the computer. If this does not fix it, you might have to reformat the computer and to make sure that you set the correct date before you install the PC-Station software.

c. Keyboard and mouse not responding This is usually caused by software called Deep Freeze. To remedy, disable (thaw) the Deep Freeze software and restart the computer once or twice until the keyboard and mouse functionality is restored, then you can refreeze (enable Deep Freeze software) the computer.

d. There is a cloud of color (red, green, yellow etc) covering the monitors connected to the terminals This is usually caused by a faulty cable. You should either re-crimp the ends of your cable or make sure that you are using Cat 5e or Cat 6e cable or make sure that you have not exceeded the maximum allowable length of 5m for Cat 5e cable and 10m for Cat 6e cable.

e. Bad serial You might receive this error (while installing the PC-Station software) when entering the serial and activation keys, if you do, you should use another set of correct serial and activation key numbers. (E.g. Serial: 3525565 + Activation Key: 216995-344212-662507, Serial: 3525566 + Activation Key: 103123-213873-102947, Serial: 3525567 + Activation Key: 341260-623473-243137)

f. Terminals hang reading Waiting for start or Station Starting This is caused by number of causes, among which the most common is a software conflict. When there is software that is blocking the PC-Station terminals from logging on to windows this message is continuously displayed and the windows user login screen will not be shown. In this case, you must remove all anti-virus or firewall software and try again, if this does not resolve the issue, then you might need to reformat the computer using a different Windows XP CD.

If only one or two of the total terminals is showing this condition, then you should try changing the PCI slot in which the PCI card of the PC-Station is sitting in. Also make sure that it is securely held in place.

3. Anti-virus issues It is known that the PC-Station software does not work with some anti-virus software. These are Kaspersky, Avira and Avast. Please make sure you uninstall these software before installing the PC-Station software. In case you install the two together, use Safe mode to uninstall one and then resolve the issue.
