This page explains the use for projection

Connecting this way will not require any software to be installed. The touch screen function of the Smart Board will not work.

Switching on Use the wall mounted control unit to switch the Smart Board and Projector on and off. After switching on the projector has to warm up, so dont panic if nothing happens at first. Also, after switching off the lamp has to cool down before switching on is possible again.

Connect Laptop

Connect the VGA and USB cables to your laptop (If the beamer works, but does not show the computer screen, you might try to switch from "PC"to "Laptop" on the wall mounted control unit) Sound The Smartboard has built-in speakers (integrated audio system) and will play sound from the connected PC without the need for extra equipment.

We encourage you to install the Smart Board Software on your own laptop. You can use -and practice with- the Smart Board software very well without the Smart Board being connected to your laptop. Never write on the Smart Board with any kind of pen or marker The Smart Board functions only when all three components Board, Laptop and Beamer are present and switched on. If you do not have a laptop, borrow one from the ICT-Helpdesk. Smart Board Markers should always be present (If not, ask the ICTHelpdesk to bring them and use pieces of paper to replace them in the meantime).

Install the SmartBoard software


Step 1 IHE menu --> Install Software --> _p-t --> Smart Board --> 1. Smart Board Drivers
(Or "I:\SMART Drivers\SMART Board Drivers.msi" or, if you donot have access to I:\ http://www2.ihe.nl/smartproductdrivers.exe )

Click: Next --> I Agree --> Next --> Next --> Install --> Finish Step 2 IHE menu --> Install Software --> _p-t --> Smart Board --> 2. Smart Notebook Software
(Or "I:\SMART Notebook\install.cmd")

Step 3 (optional) Install Concept Mapping Software If you want you can also install CMAP software, which will enable you to brainstorm and discuss concepts on the Smart Board together with your colleagues. I:\ConceptMap Tool\WinCmapTools_v5.04_07-16-10.exe

Step 4 (optional) Install PDF Annotation tool If you would like to use Yellow Marker Tool and Red Arrow Tool to annotate PDF files during your lecture, you can install FOXIT pdf reader. I:\foxit\FoxitReader321_en_Setup.exe

Calibration Synchronizing the projection with the pen position (Calibration) has to be done each time you connect your laptop to the Smart Board. Press the two buttons (On-screen Keyboard-button and Right-click-button) simultaneous to enter Calibration.

The On-Screen Keyboard If you use the On-Screen Keyboard, you have to remember that CRTL, SHIFT and ALT keys are TOGGLE switches. You should not keep them pressed while typing

Computer mouse If the computer mouse is not functioning tap the on the screen. The floating Tools-menu If the floating tools menu is not visible on your screen, start it by Right-clicking the SMART board icon in the system tray (right bottom) of the computer screen. symbol in the floating Tools-menu

Inserting Images into Notebook Software To add an image to your Notebook file you can do the following: Use the Screen Capture toolbar to capture images on your screen Use the Insert menu to import graphics or clip art from another location on your computer

Ink Aware-mode
-Could also be called Office Integration -Notes and Drawings on the screen (transparency layer) can be saved within the active Inkaware application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) -In Powerpoint slideshow can be controlled by tapping on the screen.

Notebook-mode
-Multiple Notebook-Pages can be Added -Notebook content can be saved to and loaded from the PC-Filesystem -Always in background, also in InkAware mode and when other applications are active on the screen. -Notes and Drawings on the whiteboard (transparency layer) can be saved as a Notebook-Page. -Screen Captures from the Active Application go to a new Notebook Page
