GOOD NEWS USA: Ohio adding jobs at promising pace Ohio employers have made a good start in restoring the number of jobs lost during the recession. Employers have added 70,000 jobs so far this year and 101,000 jobs since January 2010, when employment numbers began to improve in the state. Cash registers at executive search firms are ticking as the demand for senior-level executives have shot up, especially after April.Traditionally, it forms only 15 per cent of the overall job market, but their share is now increasing and so is the business for these hiring agencies. At Executive Access, which specialises in top-level hiring, a growth of 60 per cent is expected this year. Last year, we placed 128 senior-level employees. This year, we already have openings for as many as 30 senior positions in different companies, Ronesh Poori, managing director, Executive Access, said. 200 Jobs for NJ TRENTON Chrysler Group LLC plans to invest $114 million in equipment and create 268 new jobs at the Trenton Engine Complex on Van Horn Road. The investment, announced Wednesday, includes using 400,000 square feet of the 2-million-square-foot building to produce parts for the engines made at its sister plant, Trenton South, which is next door. The old plant had stopped operations in May. As Chrysler Group moves to replace seven V-6 engines with the new Pentastar V-6, it has become necessary to add capacity on core components in order to meet the production demands of this new engine, Brian Harlow, vice president and head of powertrain manufacturing, said in a press release. This investment has also given Trenton North, which has been building engines for nearly 60 years, a new lease on life. The company will add five new manufacturing lines, creating 22 new jobs. Speaking about todays announcement, Governor McDonnell said, Prestos investment and expansion of five manufacturing lines will allow for increased capacity, serving more customers from its facility in Halifax County. 76 Jobs for NC AKG of American, which makes heat exchanges and cooling solutions, said Thursday that it will expand its plant in North Carolinas Orange County, creating more than 75 jobs and investing more than $3 million over the next three years. Gov. Beverly Perdue said Thursday that AKG of America received a $100,000 grant from the One North Carolina fund for the expansion. The company plans to add 42,000 square feet to its manufacturing plant in Mebane, where it also has its North American headquarters and sales office. The average annual salary will be almost $43,000, plus benefits. The U.S. Department of Energy said yesterday it is offering a $275 million loan guarantee to Calisolar Inc. to locate a solar silicon plant in Ontario, just west of Mansfield in Richland County. Calisolar, a California-based company that supports the alternative-energy industry, plans to invest $752 million to create a manufacturing operation that would include a former General Motors stamping plant and new construction. Plans call for creating nearly 1,100 permanent jobs and up to 1,000 construction jobs. Jeff Smisek, CEO of Chicago-based United Continental Holdings Inc., parent company of the carriers, said most of the jobs are being transferred from cities around the country. The Friday announcement comes as United Continental Holdings Inc. works to combine the two airlines and workforces. The jobs have been added to Ericssons presence in the town in order to boost the companys research and development activities. The Government announced a group led by Siemens had beaten Derby-based Bombardier Transportations consortium to be preferred bidder for the contract for 1,200 new carriages on the Thameslink route in South East England. Siemens says up to 2,000 new jobs will be created with around 600 highly skilled roles involved in making train components including up to 300 at one of its plants in Hebburn, South Tyneside.
