Sufi

the first sojourn

INTRODUCTION La ilaha illa Llah, Muhammad ur Rasulu Llah. (There is no deity but ALLAH, and Muhammad is the Messenger of ALLAH.) Who and/or what is a Sufi, and exactly what relationship does he, she, or it have to Al Islaam? The term Sufi derives from the Arabic etymon suf meaning wool. Although to some this might seem odd, this designation actually refers to the woolen cloaks worn by the Islaamic ascetics of old which over time became synonymous with their way of life. Stated plainly, the Sufi is, for lack of a better noun, an Islaamic mystic. The charge of the Sufi is to uphold, maintain, and transmit the sacred cognition (jim) housed within AL QURAAN as opposed to just the commonly known and accepted revelations. These divine mysteries mutashabihat were revealed by Rasulu Llah Muhammad (PBUH) to Hazrat Ali Abi Taalib (PBUH) who in turn narrated them to other Ansaaru Allah (Aiders [in the way] of ALLAH), and have survived to this present epoch through a network of Sufi orders called silsilah (a line of transmission from master to master of the spiritual power and teaching of the Sufi path tariq). The life of the Sufi is the life of the spirit, a life grounded in the only reality that existsALLAH. The Sufi is one unfettered by the appetitive drives of the body and the incessant cravings of the false ego. The heart of the Sufi is free from malice, strive, envy, jealousy, and hatred. For the Sufi the sole reason for being is unconditional servitude and obedience to ALLAH. This exertion of divine love (ishq) and unremitting remembrance (dhikr) of ALLAH is the ladder which the Sufi gradually ascends to achieve the zenith of mans existenceOneness with ALLAH, a state known as maqam al-wisal. For those who still doubt, the Sufi is muqarrabun, one nearest to ALLAH. (AL QURAAN 56: 7-11).

the first sojourn
I am human, and to be prompt sometimes is a struggle. I have a very demanding job, family and also trying to balance some extra school. These are not excuses, but some times there is not enough time to do all that you want to do. Sometimes I feel am I worthy? With much prayer to ALLAH Ive come to the conclusion that I am.

Q.

A.

Al Quraan instructs us that human beings in inkifad (a disagreeable state) are unworthy in the sight of ALLAH (Al Quraan 24:50-57). Inkifad is a state of spiritual regression precipitated by an acute blindness to the light of AN-NUR. It is a disease of the qaib (heart) emanating from maqam an-nafs (the station of egoism) exemplified by an array of peculiarities opposed to as-Sirat al-mustaqim (the straight path), e.g. narcissism, selfishness, deceit, hatred, murder, etc. (Al Quraan 9:125). Al Qur'aan informs us that prior to the fall of ADAM (PBUH), man in his agreeable state (salaam) was wali (a friend of ALLAH) meaning that man was in divine union with ALLAH (Upon Whom all praises are due!), a state of subsistence known as wisal. However, due to ADAMS subsequent betrayal/transgression of ALLAHS injunction regarding abstinence from the fruit of es ha-hayyim (the tree of life) or es had-daat towb wara (the tree of the

knowledge of good and evil) his divine union with ALLAH was breached, resulting in the manifestation of daara (immorality; sin) on ares (the earth) (Al Quraan 2:30-38). Were it not for the Infinite mercy of AR RAHMAN, AR RAHIM, who yielded His forgiveness in the face of mans iniquity ADAM (PBUH) and HAWWA (PBUH) would have surely been annihilated that selfsame day (Al Quraan 7:2325). Thus for any man to hold in his heart and say boastfully with his mouth that he is worthy of ALLAH (Upon Whom all praises are due!) is haraam (unlawful).

Q.

The language that is used after you say something in English is this not ARABIC? I would like to know. Also, how did you come to speak and write it so fluently? Yes, the translations which succeed or precede the English (depending on the syntax of the paragraph) in all of the scrolls you currently possess are indeed ARABIYYA (ARABIC). For example: fana (annihilation; passing away; effacement), or angels (malaikah). Also it must be mentioned that Al Quraan was originally recorded in KUFIC, a script which in its original form is not voweled. Also note that when Al Quraan was initially transcribed it contained no markings whatsoever specifying where verses began or ended. Know for a surety that the supposed ARABIYYA (ARABIC) spoken in the MUSLIM world today in countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, etc., is not the same language RASULU LLAH MUHAMMAD (PBUH) spoke, nor is the Al Quraan we currently have in our possession totally unadulterated as some Muslims would have us to believe. According to the ORTHODOX SUNNI SCHOOL OF THOUGHT, the original Al Quraan was burned by the third caliph (successor) Uthman lbn Affaan lbn Abdul Aasiy (74-656 A.D.) succeeding the death of RASULU LLAH MUHAMMAD (PBUH). Nevertheless, no man can

change the words of ALLAH and in that sense ALLAH has seen fit to raise up holy men and scholars who have preserved the essence and truth of Al Qur'aan. Kufiyya (KUFIC) emanates from SYRETIC which has its roots in ARAMAIC which can be traced back through MDW NTR (Egyptian) all the way to CUNEIFORM (SUMERIAN).

Q.

To my understanding MILLAT IBRAHIYYM is the true religion of Al Islaam. Where and how do sects like THE NATION OF ISLAM fit in?

You are indeed correct in your understanding that MILLAT IBRAAHIYYM is the true religion of Al Islaam (Al Qur'aan 2:130-131, 135; 16:123; 6:161), the true path of all the nabiyyah (prophets) sent from ALLAH is as-Sirat al-mustaqim (the straight path). It was because of the piety and veracity of Abu (Father) IBRAAHIYYM (PBUH) who earned the title Khalil Allah (The Friend of Allah), and Hanifan (The Upright One) (Al Quraan 4:125) that ALLAH named us Musalaamun (Muslims) and gave us Al Islaam (the path of peace and submittance to ALLAH) as a way of life (Al Qur'aan 2:128; 22:78).

A.

Now as it concerns THE NATION OF ISLAM they are a phenomena best understood in the context of the Brown and so-called Black mans struggle here in America to reclaim and foster a racial, cultural, spiritual, religious and socio-political identity to ultimately subdue and fight off the untamed beast of European supremacy (racism). It cannot be denied historically that they have served and still serve a very important role in introducing persons of supposed African descent here in America to certain aspects of the path of Al Islaam.

Q. A.

Is ALLAH GOD? Yes, most definitely. There is no GOD but ALLAH (Upon Whom all praises are due). If ALLAH is GOD as you have so vehemently affirmed, then please show me in the one hundred and fourteen (114) disclosures of Al Quraan revealed to PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH) over a twenty-three year period and recorded by both he and his sahaba (companions) in the Mail script of KUFIYYAH where such an assertion is conveyed? Also, explain to me as well why the appellation GOD does not appear among the ninety-nine plus one (99+1) beautiful names of ALLAH (al-asma al hunsa) if it is in fact one of ALLAHS divine nomina? For your enlightenment the word GOD is of European origin and its etymon can be found in several distinct Caucasoid languages. For example: MIDDLE ENGLISH godd; MIDDLE HIGH GERMAN got; ICELANDIC god; SWEDISH gud; DANISH gud; and GOTHIC guth. According to WEBSTERS NEW UNIVERSAL UNABRIDGED DICTIONARY, DELUXE SECOND EDITION, the word GOD is defined as:

1. any of various beings conceived of as supernatural, immortal, and having special powers over the lives and affairs of people and the course of nature; deity, especially a male deity. 2. [G-] in monotheistic religions, the creator and ruler of the universe, regarded as eternal, infinite, all-powerful, and all-knowing; Supreme Being; Almighty: often used in exclamations, as, good God! God almighty! 3. a person or thing that is excessively worshiped and admired; an all-absorbing passion, pursuit, or hobby; something idolized. 4. an idol. 5. a spectator or auditor in the gallery of a theater.

As Musalaam (Muslim), can you honesty say that any of the above definitions for the appellation GOD do justice to the magnificence of ALLAH? When you exclaim ALLAH to be GOD are you saying that ALLAH is any of various beings conceived of as supernatural, immortal, etc., which would make you guilty of shirk (binding partners with ALLAH), the one sin according to Al Quraan that ALLAH does not forgive (Al Quraan 4:116); or are you declaring that ALLAH is the creator and ruler of the universe, regarded as eternal, infinite, all-powerful, and all-knowing; Supreme Being; etc., just as the Greeks regarded ZEUS as their Supreme Being (the word being is defined in the aforementioned Dictionary as a creature that lives or exist. Is ALLAH a creature now?!); or are you affirming ALLAH to be an idol?! No where in Al Quraan does it proclaim ALLAH to be GOD! ALLAH is AR RAHMAN AR RAHMAN (The Compassionate, The Merciful), AL GHAFUR (The Forgiving), AL QAYYUM (The Eternal), AL HAMID (The Praiseworthy), AL WADUD (The Loving). ALLAH is not GOD!!!

The designation ALLAH is made of the definite article AL or The and the preposition LAHU or For Him, and stems from the root ALLAHU meaning: To worship, To adore, To serve. It is analogous to the Hebrew nomen EL ELOH or ELI. The actual name for THE SUSTAINER whom we call ALLAH is HUWA meaning He Who Is. (Al Quraan 73:9). LA ILAHA ILA HUWA (NOTHING WOULD EXIST IF HE WHO IS DIDNT CREATE IT). HUWA is the essence of all that was, is, and shall be.

Q.

I have been busy trying to memorize the 99+1 names of ALLAH (To whom all praises are due). I am determined to memorize them. ALLAH will be pleased with me! Was it hard for you to learn to memorize the 99+1 names? The fact we should always keep close to heart is that ALLAH does not make anything hard or difficult for man (Al Quraan 10:58; 10:62-64). The ninety-nine plus one (99+1) divine names of ALLAH called affectionately al-asma al-hunsa (the Beautiful Names) are the principles by which AL-KHALIQ (THE CREATOR) uses to permit human beings to operate on nasuwt (the realm of corporeality). For example, one of the divine attributes of ALLAH is AL-BASIR, which means The Perceiver. In other words, ALLAH sees everything at all times; there is nothing that escapes the view of ALLAH, not even the most intimate of thoughts. The attribute basir exists as a potentiality within us at all times, stored in the qalb (heart). When ALLAH sends His idhn (the permission of Allah) to our hearts by way of inhalation, and this is combined with certain sounds we utter, the potentiality then travels through a semigaseous network called a humor. The potentiality

A.

moves along this network until it reaches the moist, crystalline lens of the eye. Once there, the potentiality unites with the physical part of the body and becomes the actuality of sight. As soon as you have the opportunity, sound out as many of the divine names as possible attaching to them various melodic intonations and harmonic inflections acquired from the surats of Al Quraan (which requires an understanding of Arabiyya). Repeat these canticles both vocally and silently very repetitiously. Insha ALLAH, if executed properly the dhikr (remembrance of ALLAH) you engender should stimulate and disperse the divine attributes throughout your body in perfect measure! It is one thing to be able to recite from memory the ninety-nine plus one (99+1) holy names of ALLAH, and another to understand their relevance and application on this plane of created being.

So ends the first sojourn...

May ALLAH be pleased with this work!

Due to various imperfections inherent in corporeality, apologies are extended for any errata, whether typographical or syntactical that may have inadvertently crept into this communique. I ask pardon and forgiveness of ALLAH for any errors thereof.
