thai wedding ceremony the thai wedding ceremony is unique and beautiful. a few days prior to the wedding, the couple will meet with our personal wedding planner who will brief all details, order of service, understanding and meanings of the various parts of a thai style wedding. an important part of the thai wedding is that the bride and all lady guests have to cover their shoulders and legs when paying respects to the monks. additionally, traditionally during the ceremony the bride and groom will kneel on the floor for approximately 30-45 minutes, (if this is not possible for the couple the time can be shortened and a chair provided). the ceremony usually begins in the late morning. options for the wedding venue can be on the beach or at the beachside restaurant edge. traditional floral decoration is thai orchids. the long drum parade is a very special and joyous part of the thai wedding ceremony. unlike the western wedding ceremony, the groom is centre of attention for this procession! the procession is traditionally led by the grooms parents and traditional musicians. the groom makes his way towards the wedding venue, where the bride waits for him. on arrival the groom must prove his worth to the 'gatekeepers' before he is allowed to marry the bride. the bride then has the opportunity to ask the groom to make promises for their life together. the bride and groom wait with their guests for the monks to arrive at the wedding venue. once the monks have taken their places, the couple will knee on the floor to pay respect to the buddha image and the monks by the light of candles and 3 incense sticks. the monks then chant a blessing for the couple. the couple offer alms for the monks and give thanks and prayers for their families and friends. the monks ceremony finishes with the couple receiving a holy water blessing from monks. after the monks ceremony has finished the ceremony to exchange vows and rings is led by the bride and grooms parents. this is then followed by the holy water pouring and bonding ceremony. the bride and grooms parents put a symbolically 'binding' string onto the bride and grooms head. three traditional dots are placed on each of the bride and grooms foreheads. parents, family and friends pour holy water onto the bride and grooms hands and give thanks and offer prayers for the couple. thai wedding package is inclusive of the following: personal wedding planner 3.5 hours spa package chee wit mai / rejuvenation experience for the bride a floral bouquet for the bride a corsage for the groom The Sarojin wedding ceremony buddhist monks to perform ceremony and blessing alms for monks and temple donations rot naam ceremony [lustral water ceremony] elegantly decorated wedding cake [one tier included in package] one bottle of champagne private a la carte breakfast with sparkling wine for the bride and groom
