The Two Circles Ending in a keyway, in our logo!

The two circles in the logo ending in a keyway are references to study circles which are a key to producing good students who later take up the challenge to come back and teach at the Al-Jaamiah Sunday madrassa. In this way we have an inexhaustible flow of knowledge, when students feel morally obliged to come back and take up the responsibility to teach others. Each one teaches one. When you have learn something of benefit, it becomes your duty to teach it to someone else As Imam Haroon and Boeta Hima used to remind us. They would say, Please pay attention and ensure that you understand the lesson, as you are going to need this information when it is your turn to stand here in front and teach. The circles which we are referring to are the study circles or as known in Arabic, Halaqaat. These were the study circles which were formed in the first Madrassa of Islam at the house of Arkaam in Makkah, where the Sahaabah sat in circles around the Nabie SAW who taught them the Quran as it was revealed to him by Allah. These study circles or Halaqaat were later also formed in the Masjid of the Prophet in Madinah where the Prophet continued to teach the Companions and Part 1 of 2 they would then break up into By Mualliem Allie Abdul Latief more circles to pass on the message which they received from the Prophet to those of their friends who were not present when the verses of the Quran were revealed by Allah and given over to those who were present.

Educating our Youth

Weekend Madrassah serves as a solution to the time constraints Learners currently experience. The time Al Jaamiah Sunday Madrassah offers the Learners to educate them in the Deen is restricted and must be utilized effectively. Key to the success of this type of offering is the role each of the parties play. The synergy between Learner, Parent and Teacher is crucial and certain criteria must be met constantly and consistently. Here is a basic guide for each player:

Zone 1 Trip to the Aquarium

Muallimah Waseemah and team planned and organized an adventure filled trip to the Two Oceans Aquarium. This took many hours of planning and coordination of the logistics between the Madrassah and the Aquarium, to ensure that all compliance and safety issues were taken care of. So on the 12th June 2011 a busload of learners together with teachers and some parents hopped on a chartered bus full of excited learners on their journey to the Two Oceans Aquarium. Learners had an opportunity to see some great fishes and coral up close but the penguins and sharks stole the show. A wonderful time was had by all.

In this way you can monitor what they are doing. Be responsible1 It is also a good idea to make sure that the correct privacy settings are in place, as any profanity will be with them in the digital world forever. AJSM Educating Our Youth

Since our children are but a trial and that the highest reward is with Allah the Almighty, it is then our responsibility to guide our children to Islam. It is only through Islam that they can become righteous and be of service to Allah. We pass Allahs trial once our children worship and please our Creator. Remember that the best thing that we can give to our children is knowledge of Islam. It is the best education and the best means to fight ignorance and drive away evil. MERITS OF FASTING on 27th RAJAB

It was on the 27th day of Rajab, we are told, that Gabriel first came down to invest the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) with his Messengership [Risala]. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) once said: If someone keeps the fast on the 27th day of Rajab, he will be credited with the same reward as that which is earned by fasting for sixty months. According to this next report, likewise conveyed to us by Sheikh Hibatu'llah, Allah's Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) once said: Rajab contains a very special day and a very special night. If someone fasts during that day, and keeps vigil throughout that night, he will be entitled to a reward like the one that would be earned by a person who fasted for a hundred years, and who keeps vigil throughout all the nights in that period. The reference must be to the 27th of Rajab, that being the day on which our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) was first dispatched to embark upon his mission. Allah's Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) once said: Rajab is one of the sacred months and its days are inscribed on the sixth gate of Heaven. So, if a man has fasted during one day of this month, and if he has kept his fast completely clean through obedient devotion [taqwa] to Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He), the heavenly gate will acquire the faculty of speech, and the day itself will also acquire the faculty of speech, and the two of them will say: "O Lord, forgive him!" But if he has failed to make his fast complete through obedient devotion to Allah (Exalted is He), they will make no such plea for him to be forgiven. They will say, or he will be told by some other voice: "Your own lower self [nafs] has betrayed you!"
