AIEEE 2011 Offline Paper Analysis

The offline AIEEE paper consisted of 90 questions 30 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and all these questions had to be attempted in 3 hours. Each question consisted of 4 marks. The negative marking for th each wrongly answered question was 1/4 of the marks for each question. This meant that if someone got a 4marks question wrong, 1 mark would be deducted. Physics

The Physics paper was of moderate difficulty with most students finding it much easier compared to the IIT-JEE 2011 paper. Questions from electricity were on the tougher side while questions from heat and thermodynamics, mechanics, and modern physics were relatively easy. Mechanics contributed to 33 percent of the total paper while heat and thermodynamics contributed 13 percent to the paper.

Heres a graph showing the percentage of questions from each topic.

If we break the entire syllabus into the class XI syllabus and the class XII syllabus, then this years AIEEE paper had around 60 percent questions from class XII and 40 percent questions from class XI.

Mathematics

The mathematics paper had a medium level of difficulty and there were very few questions that were extremely challenging. Questions related to 3 dimensional geometry, co-ordinate geometry, statistics, trigonometry and algebra were quite easy to attempt. Calculus contributed to 36 percent of the paper while algebra took up 27 percent of the paper. Heres a diagram showing the distribution of questions from various topics.

Chemistry

The chemistry portion of AIEEE 2011 bordered on the easier side. About 40 percent of the questions were from physical chemistry, 30 percent were from organic chemistry and 30 percent were from inorganic chemistry. There were hardly any extremely tough questions. Interestingly, 70 percent of the questions were from the class XII portion of the syllabus with only 30 percent of the questions being asked from the class XI portion. Here is a graphical depiction of the questions asked from different topics.

So overall, we can say that AIEEE 2011 had the same pattern of questions as AIEEE 2010. The trend of lesser questions with a higher level of difficulty that started a few years ago continued this time too as only 30 questions were asked from each subject. The difficulty level in all subjects can be labelled medium overall. In any case, topIITcoaching.com wishes all of you whore reading this all the best for the AIEEE results. Lets keep our fingers crossed
