Armed Forces Day is
an annual opportunity
for the nation to show
support for the men and
women of the Armed
Forces Community,
which includes serving
personnel and their
families, veterans and
the Cadet Forces.
Armed Forces Day 2011 is
on Saturday 25 June 2011
and Edinburgh will host
the Armed Forces Day
agship national event.
In addition, a number of
events will take place
between 24 - 26 June
across the city.

ARMED FORCES DAY - NATIONAL EVENT PROGRAMME
Friday 24 June
OCEAN TERMINAL, LEITH
Various activities will be taking place between 1100-1800:

Royal Navy Gun Display
Royal Marine and Royal Navy Demonstrations
Royal Marine Pipe Band
The Flying Gunners Motorcycle Display Team
Royal British Legion Scotland Pipe Band and Standard Bearers
and lots more
The Royal British Legion Scotland and other Veterans associations will be
on site to talk about the support they provide to those who have served in
our Armed Forces.
1900 - Red Arrows Display over Edinburgh (sponsored by SELEX Galileo)
The world famous Red Arrows will do a half hour display to mark the start
of the Armed Forces Day weekend. To get the best view of their full display
the recommended viewing areas are as follows:
Calton Hill
The Braids
Corstorphine Hill
Arthurs Seat
Cramond and the Promenade
Saturday 25 June
ARMED FORCES DAY
1045 The Riders Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland riding 90
motor bikes will make their way down the Royal Mile to Holyrood
Park to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion
Scotland.
1115 Armed Forces Day Parade of over 1000 serving members of the
Armed Forces, Veterans and Cadets will set off from the Castle
Esplanade and march down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Park.
1200 Fly Past by the Red Arrows (sponsored by SELEX Galileo)

Hurricane
1255 Drumhead Service at Holyrood Park to commemorate those who
have fallen in battle. (sponsored by BAE Systems)

The celebrations for Veterans and Servicemen will continue in Holyrood
DecAid is a national, charity appeal that has been set up by students to
raise money for three service charities through the running of six high
