1.1 Introduction Media Lan Disk (ME747AK-SI) is a multiple-functions productUSB2.0 PNP storage device & 10/100 network storage device & MP4 player. With user friendly configuration setting (No any TCP/IP)enjoy MoviesPhotos and Musicone touch backup fast copy functions and supports both IDE & SATA HDD at the same time. LAN Share disk is a best home network backup & entertainment center for your need. 1.2 Safety Instruction 1. Always unplug the power cord before inserting Hard Drive. 2. Using a power supply with a different voltage rating will damage and make void of this product warranty. 3. Keep this equipment away from humidity or any type of moisture. 4. Do not drop or shack the device. 5. Do not press or put any weight on the device. 6. Do not clean the device with alcohol, thinner or benzene. 9

3. Using Media LAN Disk


3.1 As a USB2.0 Storage Disk 1. Connect the power cable then power on it( push the power button 2~4 second). 2. Connect the USB cable in your computer. 3. When your hard disk is detected by your computer, LED1 is bright 3.2 Use USB Mode 3.2.1 Windows Vista 64Windows Vista X86Windows 2000Windows XP and Windows ME 1. Connect the LAN Share and your computer with USB Cable. 2. Connect the power cable then power on it. 3.2.2 Windows 98SE Install USB Win98 Driver 1. Find OP-9210 Win98 Driver in the install CD and execute OP9210_Disk_Remove. 2. InstallShield Wizard will appear, click Next. 16

3. Choose I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next. 4. Click Finish to complete driver installation. 5. Connect the LAN Share and your computer with USB Cable. 6. Connect the power cable then power on it. 7. System will install the USB driver automatically. Safely Remove Disk 1. Find USB icon in the system tray.

2. Right click icon and choose Safely Remove Hardware.

3. Click Stop. 17

4. Choose USB Mass Storage Device then click OK.

5. Click OK to complete safely remove hardware.

Remove Win98 USB Driver 1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel then execute Add/Remove Programs. 2. Choose OP-9210 USB 98 Driver and click Add/Removeto remove it.

3.3 Formatting Media Lan Disk in FAT32 file system of fully capacity 1. Right click My Computer and select Manage. 2. Computer Management window will appear. Click Disk Management under Storage. Computer Management window will list all the disks in the computer. 3. Right click on partition disk and click New Partition. 4. New Partition Wizard will appear, click Next. 5. Select Primary partition or Extended partition which you want, click Next. 6. Enter the capacity that you want to partition, click Next. Note 1. Through the Disk Management tool providing by Windows systems, the maximum formattable capacity of FAT32 is 32GB. 2. Customer who desires to have a FAT32 partition more than 32GB can be satisfied by implementing our Format Transfer Tool. Please refer to the manual of our Format 20

Transfer Tool for more comprehensive information about format issue. 7. Select Assign the following drive letter, click Next. 8. Select Format this partition with the following settings and choose the File system which you want. You can enter the Volume label what you want. Choose Perform a quick format, click Next. 9. Click Next. 10. You can see a new partition in the Disk Management. 11. The new disk will appear in your computer. 3.4 OTB software program installation One Touch Backup Function 1. Please find the OTB Tool in the CD. 2. Install OTB. 3. After installing, please refer to user guide from One Touch Backup in the start menu.

Notes If you plug the ME747AK-SI into computer with USB, media file playback and network will not work.

3.5 As a Media Player machine 1. Please connect the Audio and Video cables between Media Bank and TV as shown as below figure. 2. Please plug in the power adaptor and power on your TV. 3. Please change your TV mode to AV mode. 4. Push the POWER button 2~4 second. 5. Now, you can enjoy it.

Notes If your image and subtitle are separated, please put them in the same folder, then copy to your ME-747AK ; and remember, the file name of the image and subtitle must be same.

3.5.1 Firmware Upgrade procedures of Media LAN 1. Please copy the new firmware file that you want to update from CD to your first partition of the hard disk. Please confirm the first partition is FAT32 2. Please connect the Video and power cable, and power on the Media Bank. 3. Enter the TV mode, and move your cursor on the new firmware Bank30.rom. 4. Push the OK key to enable the upgrade procedure. AttentionDo not turn off the power when firmware upgrade procedures are under processing. It will cause upgrade procedures failed and Media Bank damage on the situation. 5. When the upgrade screen is gone, it means firmware upgrade has already finished. 24

3.5.2 TV Lock Function 1. This function will only lock the second partition if there are several partitions in your hard disk. You cannot enter the partition unless input correct password. 2. The screen will display a keyboard when you want to enter locked partition, Please input the default password (the default password is 0000when you first time use this function. 3. Please use the updownleftright and play key on the remote control to move or execute input function. 4. If you want to change the password, please choose the change key in the keyboard. Input the old password and then input the new password, then press OK. Now the new password is that you want

3.6 As a Network Storage Disk 1. Connect the included Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on LAN Share to a switch (100 Base-T). 2. Make sure the power connector is firmly attached to the LAN Share and connect the power adapter to a power source. 25

3.7 Switching between Media File Playback Mode and Network Storage Mode Push the Power button on the media bank or the remote control, then the LED will lighted up between MP4 and NET HDD. When the MP4 LED lighted on, Media File Playback mode is active. When the NET HDD LED lighted on, NDAS mode is active.

5. Starting Quick Media Play To start Quick Media Play, do the followings 1. Press Setup button to enter the SETUP MENU-MAIN PAGE. 2. Choose Preferences and check TV TYPE is MULTI SYSTEM or not 3. After setup, choose Exit Setup return to main menu. Notes 1. Default setup of TV type is MULTI SYSTEM. 2. MULTI SYSTEM includes NTSC type and PAL type. 3. NTSCTaiwan, US, Japanetc 4. PALMainland China / European countries

5.1 PHOTO PLAY MODE You can press arrow key to select PHOTO mode in MAIN MENU or press PHOTO on the remote control, or you can press FILE to enter File Library to search the file you want to play.

FULL SIZE DISPLAY You can press OK button on the remote control to show the Full-size picture. The screen will be shown as right.

ZOOM IN DISPLAY You can press Zoom button on the remote control to zoom in the picture and press Zoom button again to disable. You can press arrow keys to move picture. The screen will be shown as below. Zoom Off Zoom In 2 Zoom In 3

ROTATE SIDPLAY You can press ROTATE button on the remote control to rotate the picture in clockwise direction.

SLIDE SHOW SETUP Press Setup button to enter the SETUP MENU-MAIN PAGE and select SLIDESHOW SETUP to select your play mode. MANUALYou must press or button to change your picture. 33

AUTOPictures will change automatically.

FOLDER REPEAT This item can setup folder repeat in slideshow. Press or button on the remote control to select your play mode. ONAll photo files display automatically. OFFSingle photo file display automatically.

INTERVAL TIME This item can setup interval time between every picture Press or button on the remote control to select slideshow interval time

AUTO START This item allows you to play your video files without going to MAIN MENU Press or button on the remote control to select your play mode. ONVideo file will play automatically when you power on Media Bank. OFFYou must play video file manually.

5.2 MUSIC PLAY MODE MUSIC mode allows you to view your MP3 files. You can press arrow key to select MUSIC mode in MAIN MENU or press MUSIC on the remote control, or you can press FILE to enter File Library to search the file you want to play.

PLAYBACK Press or button on the remote control to select the file you want to play. You can press EQ button on the remote control to change the EQ mode.ClassicJazzRockPoPBallad Dance

REPEAT PLAY Press Setup button to enter the SETUP MENU-MAIN PAGE and select MUSIC SETUP to select your play mode. You can press or button on the remote control to select your play mode

ONEThe same song will play repeatedly. OFF Music will stop to play when songs played once from first to last. ALLAll songs will repeatedly play continued.

5.3 VIDEO PLAY MODE VIDEO mode allows you to view your video files. You can press arrow key to select VIDEO mode in MAIN MENU or press VIDEO on the remote control, or you can press FILE into File Library to search the file you want to play.

Pause or start/resume playback, press the button PAUSE on your remote control. Stop playback, press the button STOP on your remote control. To move to previous video file, press the button PREVIOUS or REV on your remote control. To move to next video file, press the button NEXT or FWD on your remote control.

5.4 FILE LIBRARY File library allows you to view all your media files and browse your play list. Use the arrow keys on your remote control to quick search the file you want to play. Press OK button on your remote control to play the file

5.5 OTHER SETUP You can execute the setup of OSD LANGOSD MESSAGE and SETUP VALUES in PREFERENCES PAGE. OSD LANGChoose the language that you want to use. PREVIEWPreview window on/off. OSD MESSAGETurn on or turn off OSD MESSAGE. NotesIf you turn on this item, you can see the icon at your TV upper left corner when you execute REV or FWD function. SETUP VALUESSetup VALUES in default mode. NotesIf you execute this item, all setup values will return to default values.

6. Use Network Mode in Windows System

6.1 Install application tool of Network mode MiniSAN Management 1. Find miniSAN Install driver in the driver CD, double click

2. Install Shield Wizard will appear. Click the Next button to continue to next step. 3. Accept License Agreement and the click Next to continue installation. 4. Click the Install button to install drivers. 5. Click Continue Anyway to continue installation. 6. Click the Finish button to complete. 7. Click on the Yes button to restart your computer now, or No to restart later.Propose reboot

6.2 Mound your Media LAN Disk in Network mode When software installation is completed, you will find a miniSAN Disk Administrator Tool icon the system tray. on

1. miniSAN Launcher (desktop icon) activates and loads the miniSAN Application Tool onto the system tray. 2. miniSAN Application Tool performs the following functions - Discover miniSAN Disk in local network - Select the miniSAN Disk - Mount miniSAN Disk to Access - Reload function for Read / Write Access and data refresh - Unmount a miniSAN Dsik - Display miniSAN Disk Mac Address - Display Disk Volumes when disk mounted. - Display Disk used size icon. - Display Disk access mode and connection status icon. - Edit and show miniSAN Disk Description Name - miniSAN Disk Administrator manage 51

6.2.1 Discover miniSAN Disks in local network. 1. Mouse Left Click on the miniSAN Device Management icon located on the system tray.

2. The miniSAN Application tool will pop on the desktop and auto discover all miniSAN Disk Mac Address in the network. 3. Press discover button can research the miniSAN Disk on the network. 6.2.2 Mount a miniSAN Device Disk using the miniSAN Application Tool 1. Mouse Left Click on the miniSAN Device Management Icon located on the system tray.

2. The miniSAN Application tool will pop on the desktop and list all miniSAN Disk Mac Address in the network.

3. Select your target disk to access and Click Mount Disk. - Select the target disk and click mouse right to show the target disk function window. - Select Mount Disk for disk access. - If no other users mount the target disk to Read/Write mode, the miniSAN Disk is registered as Read / 53

- If others user mount the target disk to Read/Write mode, the miniSAN Disk is registered as Read Only Mode and show the blue icon.

- If the miniSAN Disk manager set the Authentication Key, the tool will pop a register window for key registration. - If user didnt have access key, the target disk will not be mounted. - If user entered the right access key and didnt have the R/W key, the target disk just can mount to Read Only mode. - If user entered the right access key and R/W key, the target disk could mount Read/Write mode.

Note: miniSAN Authentication Access Kay and Write Key is set on Disk Admin manager function page. (Please refer to chapter 5.3.2)

6.2.3 Display miniSAN Disk used capacity status. - miniSAN Disk manager will show the disk used capacity and used percentage icon when disk mounted.

6.2.4 miniSAN disk connection Status Modes miniSAN Device provides users with 4 basic Modes.

Below is describing each of the miniSAN Disk Device Modes and the icons that correspond with each mode. Gray : Disable mode - miniSAN Disk is disabled from your computer. - miniSAN Disk can be enable to access mode if disk mount. Green : Access mode - User can access the miniSAN Disk using Read/Write mode. Blue : Access mode - User can access the miniSAN Disk using Read Only mode. Red : Unrecognized Mode - miniSAN Disk lost connecting. - miniSAN Disk have some error and cant accesse.

6.2.5 Disk Description information. - Double click the target MAC address to type your disk description on the disk management tool. - The description information is only saved on the current PC.

6.2.6 Simple disk volume information - The disk management tool will show the disk volume information when disk mounted. - Mouse Left Click on the disk volume will link to the disk file manager.

6.2.7 Reload Disk function - Select the target disk to press reload button. - Read Only mode disk can reload the disk to Read/Write mode by reload function. - Mounted R/W mode user didnt have reload function. - User cant reload to R/W mode when the R/W mode user is accessing the target disk. - User cant reload to R/W mode when user dont have R/W key registration. - Read Only mode disk will refresh disk data for data synchronize. 6.2.8 Unmount miniSAN Disk - Select the target remove disk to press unmount button. - miniSAN Disk would be removed from the PC.

6.3 miniSAN Target Disk Administration functions The miniSAN Disk support some functions for administrator manage. There are four pages of functions list are: - Disk information page - Access key lock functions page - miniSAN Disk transmission traffic Bandwidth check - Advanced function for target disk 6.3.1 Disk information page 1. Select the target disk and press the Admin button, the Admin pages will show on. 2. The Disk page show the target disk volumes information include Volume Name / File System / Disk size / Disk Used size. 3. Press the Refresh Button on the page will refresh all volumes information 4. Press the Un-Register Button will log out the target miniSAN Disk access key registration. (step 6.3.2) 64

5. Press on the Enable Persistent Mount icon will auto mount the target disk when disk valid. - The function will auto Enable when disk mounted when Option function Mount disk as Persistent (step 6.4.1) icon enable. - The function will auto Disable when disk un-mounted when Option function Mount disk as Persistent (step 6.4.1) icon enable. 6. Press OK to exit and save.

6.3.2 Disk Access Key Lock page 1. Select the target disk and press the Admin button, the Admin pages will show on. 2. Press the Access page for access manager. 3. It will auto pop out a password login window for disk manager. 66

4. Press the default login value miniSAN, and it will show the page to setup Admin Password and Authentication Key. 4-1. Press the right password if the password is set.

5. Press Use Password icon to Enable/Disable the target disk access page login function. 6. User can change the target disk password by modifying password and confirm when enable Use Password function. 7. Press Authentication ON icon to Enable/Disable the target disk mount disk registration functions. (step6.2.2) 8. User can setup the Access Key and R/W Key for mount disk registration login password. (step6.2.2) 9. Press OK to exit and save. 6.3.3 Disk transmission traffic Bandwidth checking 1. Display the target miniSAN disk Link State and current traffic loading chart; the red line show the write data traffic bandwidth, the green one for read traffic. 2. Press Run/Stop to run/stop the traffic loading chart. 3. Reserve Set Rate Limit function to limit data maximum transfer rate for next driver. 4. Press OK to exit and save 69

6.3.4 Advanced function for target disk Firmware Update Function 1. Open miniSAN Disk Management Tool. 2. If your disk is mounted, please unmount it.

3. Right click mouse on your device icon and click Admin.

4. Click Access page and enter miniSAN in the Login window.

6. Please click Advanced page then click Update button.

7. Please open the firmware file in the browse window then click Open. If the firmware file which you got from our web site, please choose your saved string.

8. Then you will see the update message from miniSAN Management Tool.

9. You will see the message appear after update success. Please click OK to finish update process. Your device will reboot automatically, you do not need to power off and power on your enclosure.

S.M.A.R.T Function This function displays all situation of S.M.A.R.T technology of your hard disk. Click S.M.A.R.T button the display window will appear.

6.4 miniSAN Disk Tool Option functions 1. Mouse Right Click on the miniSAN Device Management 2. Select the Options function to pop the Options window. Icon located on the system tray.

6.4.1 General function description 1. Press Auto disk Discovery icon to Enable/Disable periodical auto discovery disk function. 2. Press Discover standard AoE disk icon to Enable/Disable driver to support standard AoE device. 3. Press Mount disk as Persistent icon to Enable/Disable auto mount the target disk function when disk valid, please check step 5.3.1-5. 4. 6.5 Uninstall miniSAN Driver Before you uninstall the miniSAN Driver, you must close all applications using the miniSAN Device and unmount all disk and then close miniSAN Disk Management. 1.
