CHAPTER 1 Introduction
1-1 Overview
The ATRIE WireSpan 3000/3000RM SHDSL (Single-pair/two-pair High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) System provides full duplex capability of supporting selected symmetric user data rates of E1 or symmetric user data rates of T1 or N x 64 Kbit/s (range from 64 Kbit/s to 4608 Kbit/s) leased line services or Ethernet interface extension using a Trellis Coded Pulse Amplitude Modulation (TCPAM) line code over one or two non-loaded two-wire metallic cable pair. The line speeds for transmitted and received data are multiple for lengthening the transmission distance. WireSpan 3000 series devices eliminates the need for repeaters or optical in the last mile (local loop) or in the campus network environment. The operation and performance of this specification is complying with symmetric SHDSL spectrum defined in Annex A/B , ITU-T Rec. G.991.2 and ETSI 101 524 Using advanced equalization, adaptive-filtering, echo cancellation technology and 16-TCPAM line coding, WireSpan 3000 series devices compensates for line impairments, bridge taps and mixed cabling. High immunity to background noise enables transmission of multiple DSL lines in the same physical cable.

3-4 SNMP Management Information Base (MIB)

3-4-1 SNMP Principles The SNMP management protocol (version 1 / RFC 1157) is an asynchronous command response polling protocol: all the management traffic, except for trap messages, is initiated by the SNMP-base network management station, which addresses the managed entities in its management domain. Only the addressed managed entity answers the polling of the management station. The managed entities include a function called an SNMP agent, which is responsible for interpretation and handling of the management station requests to the managed entity, and the generation of properly-formatted responses to the management station. 3-4-2 MIB Structure The WireSpan 3000 series units and Racl04 CM card support SNMP MIBs for G.SHDSL, DS1/T1, E1, The MIB specification is following the Structure and Identification of Management Information (RFC 1155 or RFC 2578) and Concise MIB Definition (RFC 1212). And the MIB for G.SHDSL, DS1/T1, E1, is comply with RFC 3276 and RFC 2495.

3-5 Configuration & Maintenance

The WireSpan 3000 series units have provided with a nonvolatile memory which to store all user profiles and provisioning parameters. User can load factory profile to initial the WireSpan 3000 series units. If the Rack-mount version of WireSpan 3000 needs to be replaced for maintenance, the provisioning parameters in the same slot will be reloaded to the replaced unit automatically.

5-3 Performance Diagnostics Data

5-3-1 General WireSpan 3000 series has two capabilities for collection of performance statistics: T1/ E1 and DSL performance monitoring capability. The performance parameters are settable. When the SHCOT recognizes a threshold crossing for a given parameter, a threshold crossing notification will be generated and reported to CID and OS. All stored performance data is accessible and cleared from CID and OS. 5-3-2 T1/E1 Performance Monitoring This section first describes the principles and parameters of the T1 / E1 and DSL performance monitoring for information on displaying the performance data from the console terminal, see Chapter 5. This function only shows in T1/E1 version devices. Error seconds (T1/ E1 ES) An error second is any second containing one or more CRC error events or one or more controlled slip event. The data is collected for the current 15-minute interval.

Version 1.36

Severely error seconds (T1 / E1 SES) A SES is a second with 832 or more CRC error events, or one or more LOF events. The data is collected for the current 15-minute interval. Unavailable seconds (T1 / E1 UAS) An unavailable second is any second in which a failed signal state exists. A failed signal state is declared when 10 consecutive severely error seconds (SES) occur, and is cleared after 10 consecutive seconds of data are processed without SES. WireSpan 3000 also provides support for long-term statistics gathered over the long-term interval (96 15-minute intervals, i.e., a total of 24 hours) for the T1 / E1 port. The additional parameters included in this class are: Long-term error seconds (24-hour T1 / E1 ES) The total count of ES records during 24 hours interval. Long-term severely error seconds (24-hour T1 / E1 SES) The total count of SES records during 24 hours interval. Long-term fail seconds (24-hour T1 / E1 UAS) The total count of UAS record during 24 hour interval. 5-3-3 Summary of T1 / E1 Performance Monitoring Table 5-2 gives a summary of the performance diagnostics data displayed under the header PERFORMANCE STATUS on the WireSpan 3000 series console terminal. 5-3-4 DSL Performance Monitoring

This section describes the performance evaluation and monitoring functions provided by WireSpan 3000 series with respect to the DSL transmission performance on loop. The DSL performance monitoring parameters are listed below: Error seconds (Loop ES) An error second is defined as a count of 1-second interval during which one or more CRC anomalies are declared and/or one or more LOSW defects are declared. This parameter is subject to inhibiting during UAS. Inhibiting shall be retroactive to the onset of unavailable time and shall end retroactively to the end of unavailable time. This parameter always followed ITU-T G.991.2 Section 9.3.2. Severely error second ( Loop SES) A severely error second is defined as a count of 1-second intervals during which at least 50 CRC anomalies are declared or one or more LOSW defects are declared. (50 CRC anomalies during a 1-second interval is equivalent to a 30% error frame rate for a nominal frame length). This parameter is subject to inhibiting during UAS. Inhibiting shall be retroactive to the onset of unavailable time and shall end retroactively to the end of unavailable time. This parameter always followed ITU-T G.991.2 Section 9.3.3 Unavailable second (Loop UAS). Unavailable second is a count of 1-second intervals for which the DSL line is unavailable. The DSL line becomes unavailable at the onset of 10 contiguous SESs. Once unavailable, the DSL line becomes available at the onset of 10 contiguous with no SESs. . This parameter always followed ITU-T G.991.2 Section 9.3.5 LOSW (Loop LOSW). The parameter LOSW second is defined as a count of 1-second intervals during which one or more DSL LOSW defects are declared. This parameter always followed ITU-T G.991.2 Section 9.3.4. The same parameters are also available over 24-hour interval (long-term statistics).

5-4-2 Near End Loopback (NLB) When activated, the local user port loopback returns the signal received from the user port. The near end loopback is formed by connecting the transmit signal, provided by the user port interface. During the loopback, the local Wirespan 3000 series device continues sending the data to the DSL link if loop is up. The test signal is provided by the DTE path of the user interface, which must receive its own transmission without error while the loopback is activated. The user interface maybe is T1 or E1. This test is generally used to check the connections between the DTE and Wirespan3000 series device.

Figure 5-1 Near End Loopback 5-4-3 Local Loopback (LLB) When activated, the local DSL loopback returns the signal received from the DTE, after pass through the user port interface and the DSL Framer and DSL DSP unit of the WireSpan 3000. The local DSL loopback is formed by connecting the analog DSL transmit signal provided by the DSL AFE circuits to the input of the DSL AFE receive path, thereby replacing the signals received by the DSL line interfaces. The test signal is provided by DTE connected to the user port interface, which must receive its own transmission without errors while the loopback is activated. The DSL loop will be disconnection automatic, if DSL loop is link-up.

Figure 5-2 shows a typical local loopback.

This loopback can check the operation of the local Wirespan 3000 series device (without the DSL line interface) and connections to the local DTE. The user interface maybe is T1/E1 or V.35. Notes While this loop is active, WireSpan 3000 series device loses DSL synchronization.

5-4-4 Remote loopback (RLB by EOC) When the remote loopback is activated, the DSL framer of the remote appliance returns the received data signal toward the DTE connected to the user port interface of the local WireSpan 3000 series device. The remote loopback is performed by internally connecting the DSL framer receive signal to the input of the DSL AFE transmit path. This test fully checks the data link, including the cables connecting the two units to the DSL loop, the transmit path connecting the two unit, and the cable connecting the DTE to the local WireSpan 3000 series device.

Figure 5-3 shows a typical Remote loopback by EOC Note This loop is available only for DSL loop as activated, and both devices DSL operation state is in Data mode.

5-4-5 Payload loopback (PLB by EOC) When the payload loopback is activated, the data channel interface of the remote unit returns the received data signal toward the DTE connected to the user port interface of the local WireSpan 3000 series device. The payload loopback is performed by internally connecting the user port interface receive signal to the input of transmit path of remote unit. The received data signal remains connected to the remote users DTE. The test signal is provided by the local users DTE, which must receive its own transmission without errors while the loopback is activated.

Figure 5-4 shows a typical Payload loopback by EOC This test fully checks the data link, including the cables connecting the two units to the DSL loop, the transmit path connecting the two units, and the cable connecting the DTE to the user port interface of the local WireSpan 3000 series device. Note This loop is available only for DSL loop as activated, and both devices DSL operation state is in data mode.

Version 1.36

5-4-6 Payload loopback (PLB by V.54) This loopback is valid only for WireSpan 3000 V.35 version device at both end to end points. When the V.54 loopback is activated, the data channel interface of the remote unit returns the received data signal toward the DTE connected to the V.35 port interface of the local WireSpan 3000 series device. The V.35 loopback is performed by internally connecting the V.35 port interface receive signal to the input of transmit path of remote unit. The received data signal remains connected to the remote users DTE. The test signal is provided by the local users DTE, which must receive its own transmission without errors while the loopback is activated.

Figure 5-5 shows a typical Remote loopback by V.54 This test fully checks the data link, including the cables connecting the two units to the DSL loop, the transmit path connecting the two units, and the cable connecting the DTE to the V.35 port interface of the local WireSpan 3000 V.35 version device. Note This loop is available only for DSL loop as activated, and both devices DSL operation state is in data mode. The remote loopback by V.54 is meeting ITU-T V.54 standard. But not included address phase state.

5-4-7 LAL LOCAL ANALOG LOOPBACK

Figure 5-6 shows a typical Local Analog Loopack The local DSL analog loopback is formed by connecting the analog DSL transmit signal provided by the DSL framer circuits to the input of the DSL framer receive path, thereby replacing the signals received by the DSL line interfaces. The test signal is provided by DTE connected to the user port interface, which must receive its own transmission without errors while the loopback is activated. The DSL loop will be disconnection automatic, if DSL loop is link-up. This loopback can check the operation of the local Wirespan 3000 series device (without the DSL line interface) and connections to the local DTE. The user interface maybe is T1/E1 or V.35, None suggest used in Ethernet interface. Almost this function is for factory testing only.

E1+V.35 Multi-Service (option)& Converter mode operation (3000 only)

G.1 Introduction
The WireSpan 3000 series devices are powerful in WireSpan series. It isn't only supported E1 extension with SHDSL function but also implement V.35 interface. Both interface could be used which setting in E1+Multi-Service mode. In this mode, DSL upstream would be merge E1 and V.35 payloads into DSL channel; DSL downstream direction user can drop user defined timeslot to V.35 interface. Others will pass through to E1 interface. The data port exchange data from DSL interface in normal case. It also can exchange data from G.703 interface in CONVERTER mode. The function provides a digital access solution for E1 and fractional E1 network services. It's a way to access Internet. This appendix includes the following information: Description of features/specifications Section G-2 Description of E1+V.35 Multi-service function operation Section G-3 Description of Converter function operation Section G-4

G-2 Features & Specification

When Configure with E1+Multi-Service Mode DSL rate could be total Fractional E1 and V.35 interface payloads summary or high. User can set any timeslot drop to V.35 interface. Diagnostic loopback for DSL, G.703 and V.35 interface. Easy to configure via Keypad and LCD or console port (No need of any hardware additional or changed). Indicate Total Data port data rates in LCD with main-menu Windows. DSL supported also 2W and 4W mode operation.

When Configure with COVERTER Mode Single Data port access to E1 & Fractional E1 services.

Version 1.36

Flexible changeable data rate from 64KBPS to 2048KBPS. Diagnostic loopback both for G.703 and Data port interface. Easy to configure via Keypad and LCD or console port (No need of any hardware additional or changed). While in COVERTER mode, DSL interface will go into sleep status automatically. It provides less power required function. Indicate Total Data port data rates in LCD with main-menu Windows. The Clock sources can't be assigned from DSL (Loop). All about DSL status and configure menu is hiding. The LOP LED indicators are always on off-status. The DSL interface is disabled and can not work in this mode. E1 interface Bit error rate 1x10E8, or better over 26 AWG up to 1000 meter /3000 Ft. Remote configure function isn't workable in COVERTER mode

G-3 E1+V.35 Multi-service mode operation (option)

In this mode, the V.35 interface drop and insert assigned timeslots data from DSL interface. Others de-mapping Timeslots are passed through to G.703 interface. Figure G-1 shows while configuring into E1+V.35 Multi-service mode

G-4 Converter function operation (3000 only)

The CONVERTER function is only provided with WireSpan 3000 3DTE standalone devices and not available with WireSpan 3000RM rack-mount card. Figure G-2 shows while configuring into COVERTER mode, the Data port drop and insert Time Slots is from G.703 interface. In this case, the DSL unit is disabled automatically. In Figure G-2. The Drop and Insert data rate can be set from 64KBPS up to 2048KBPS (Nx64KBPS ; 0<=N<=32 ). TimeSlot 0 and Time Slot 16 may be not used which depends on E1 frame type. However, it can be assigned in <<TS Mapping>> Menu. You also can find V.35 interface data rate on System configure menu. In this case, all about DSL setting and status menu will not be found on LCD Display and console menu. Please refer to APPENDIX B for different Menu-Tree information. While processing in COVERTER mode, DTE Control signals (DCD, DSR, and RTS) are actives with E1 Link up. In other mode, DTE control signals follow with DSL Line up.
