Uganda Primate Safari-14 Days

Introduction
This 14 day, safari to Uganda, will take you to the East to visit the source of the Nile, Mabira Ecotourism site, Ssezibwa Cultural site, before heading towards the North to visit Ugandas largest conservation area: Murchison Falls National Park famous for Murchison Falls, and a variety of wild game. We will pass through Budongo Tropical forest and Kanio Pabidi. This tour further takes you to the west to visit Kibale Forest National Park that has the highest concentration of primates in Africa for chimp tracking, before proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the tree climbing lions in Ishasha, Kazinga channel that has the highest concentrations of hippos in the whole world, have a clear view of mountain Rwenzori and the western arm of the great east African rift valley with associated rift valley lakes and crater lakes. We will head to south western Uganda to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla tracking. Its only in Bwindi that we have half the number of endangered and rare Mountain gorillas. Bwindi is the only Park in the whole world where Chimps co-exist with mountain gorillas. You will have a chance to visit Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda, you will meet the equator twice (from Kibale to Queen, and From Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala). Please visit Uganda with us.

Detailed itinerary
Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel. (1 Km)
You will be picked by our professionally trained guide and transfer to your Hotel. If you arrive in the morning, you will have an opportunity to visit The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in the afternoon. UWEC promotes the conservation of wildlife in Uganda and is a fine place to learn about the unique animals of Uganda and the ecosystems in which they live. All the animals at the Centre have been rescued from accidents, poachers or illegal traders. Dinner and Overnight at a Lodge of your choice Meal Plan: Half Board

Day 02: Entebbe-Jinja (140 km-one way)


Your safari guide will pick you from your Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel at 8:00 am and depart for a whole day exploration at Jinja. You will head East passing coffee, Tea and Sugar plantations and the colorful roadside fruit/vegetable markets. The first stop is the Mabira Forest; here you will be able to see the primates, birds and butterflies. You will continue to the source of the Nile. This is a spot where John Speke first discovered the source of the Nile River. You will continue to Jinja Nile Resort or Sun set hotel where we will have your lunch. In the afternoon, you will relax by the side of the swimming should you wish. We will then depart back to Kampala stopping at Ssezibwa Falls a Buganda Heritage site. Your guide will then transfer you to your Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 03: Kampala-Murchison Falls National Park (350 Km)


You will leave Kampala City early in the morning for Murchison Falls National Park in the Northern part of Uganda. Drive through the beautiful country side with stopovers at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola to view both Black and White Rhinos. This journey offers you an opportunity to pass through the famous Luwero triangle, Budongo forest on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley with great sceneries that are picturesque before reaching the park in the afternoon. You will then drive to the top of the falls where the Nile perfects its beauty. Here you will see the calm Nile forcing its self through a narrow gorge to fall a distance of about 150 ft down producing a thunderous roar of white water- incredible scenery! You will then be transferred to board the ferry to your Lodge

Day 04: Murchison Falls National Park Activities Have an early morning game drive to the rolling plains with opportunities of viewing Hartebeest, Lions, Buffalo, primates, Birds, Giraffe and Elephants and many others. Return to the lodge for breakfast, and relaxation around the swimming pool. After lunch you will go for a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls and the delta where the Nile empties into Lake Albert in search for Nile Crocodiles, birds, big Pods of Hippos and other wildlife species. Return to your Lodge for Dinner and Overnight at your Lodge Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 05: Murchison Falls National Park-Kibale Forest National Park (390 km)
After breakfast you will head to Kibale forest national park in Fort Portal via Hoima. The journey will take you through farms, traditional homestead before reaching Fort Portal, a town located just amidst the mountains of the moon. You will arrive late in the afternoon for lunch and a short relaxation moment before proceeding to YAWE project in Fort portal town. Dinner and overnight at your lodge Mea Plan: Full Board

Day 06: Chimp Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park


After breakfast, you will put on your walking shoes for a fascinating bush tour in the jungles of Kibale forest National Park in search for our closest relatives the Chimpanzees. The activity begins from the Park Headquarters before setting out to track chimpanzees in a forest that has the highest density of primates in Africa totaling to 13 species including the Black and White Colubus Monkey, Blue Monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Red tailed monkey, bush babies and pottos among others. Return to the Lodge for Lunch and evening relaxation. Dinner and overnight your lodge Meal Plan: Full Board.

Day 07: Kibale-Queen Elizabeth NP-Crossing the Equator (157 km)


After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park one of the most fascinating and beautiful National Parks in Uganda. You will pass through the great western arm of the Rift valley, see the mountains of the moon from Fort portal up to Kasese, cross several rivers including River Sebwe, Rwimi, Nyamwamba that originate from the melting snow on top of Mountain Rwenzori. After the former mining town of Kasese, you will stopover at the equator for photography before proceeding to your lodge for Lunch and afternoon relaxation Optional evening activities (Guided walk to Mweya Peninsular or Crater lakes Region) Dinner and Overnight at your lodge Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 07: Queen Elizabeth Game Drive and Launch Cruise on Kazinga Channel
A morning wake up call for an early morning cup of tea/coffee with pastries. Our morning safari of Queen ELizabeth National park starts around 6:30am. We depart for a sunrise game drive on the northerly parts of the park along the Kasenyi track. It is at this time that the Big Cats are active on their daily hunts. We will drive around the crater Lakes in search of Leopard, Lion, Hyena, Uganda Kob and other wildlife. Later, return for breakfast and relax by the pool. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga for solitary Buffalo, Hippo and other animals at the edge of the channel as they cool off. European migrant birds like the terns and gulls congregate here in large flocks. Dinner and Overnight at your lodge

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (160 km)


After an early morning Breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Via Ishasha arriving in the afternoon. Check in at your Gorilla Forest Camp for a Lunch and relaxation. Afternoon Optional Activity Take an escorted village walk to Buhoma to interact with the local community, the trail takes you through their day to day activities, a visit to a traditional herbalist, a local brewing plant for our popular Gin (Waragi), entertainment from the Batwa (Pygmies), have a look at the organic crafts by the locals Overnight at your lodge Meal Plan: (Full Board)

Day 10: Gorilla Trekking Day


Early morning, have a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for tracking gorillas, a reasonable degree of fitness is required for the Experience. With your packed lunch, you will report to the ranger station for registration and a talk by one of the rangers Before 8:00 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which trek can take from half an hour to 9 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Its amazing to sit, watch and photograph the gorillas in the forest among, listening to them marvel and grumble to each other. It is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. Dinner and Overnight at your lodge Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 11: Bwindi-Lake Bunyonyi (120 km)


Breakfast at Leisure, before departing for Lake Bunyonyi believed to be one of the second deepest lava damned lakes in Africa. In the afternoon, take a canoe ride or do some Cray fishing around the evergreen islands. This day provides you an opportunity to relax, meet the local people who will be willing to display their traditional Performances. Day 12: Kabale-Kampala-Entebbe (470 km)


After breakfast, we will return to Kampala stopping en-route for lunch and at the Equator for photography and simple experiments. Arrive late in the evening for Dinner and overnight your hotel Meal Plan: Dinner and Break Fast

Day: 13: Volunteer Work at Kabazaire Memorial Child development Center


After breakfast, you will visit Kabazaire Memorial Child Development Center (supported by Stebar Safaris as part of its social responsibility) to do volunteer work. Spend a whole day with children and show support by sharing your skills with the children at the orphanage, assist them in areas of personal hygiene (i.e. brushing, flossing their teeth) and life skills. You may also help with math, science or other subjects. As a volunteer, you also help with homework and encourage them in their academic progress. Afternoons and evenings are fun times. You will organize activities, games, singa-longs and dances as well as other creativity-based activities to teach the children. Sponsor a project and during your stay, you can supervise its implementation. Dinner and overnight at your hotel Meal Plan: Bed and Breakfast

Day 14: Departure


You will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your next flight to German. End of our Safari
