echo-reducing device is dedicated to a PCM channel. Due to the changes in the telephone net work, services and technologies the requirement in terms of echo cancellers is progressively extended to all kinds of telephone calls at all levels of PSTN (Local & Transit Exchanges) PCM terminations with integrated echo canceling function (TMAE) is generic to the OCB 283 system and designed for subscriber line and transit applications. With it external PCM multiplexes can be connected to the OCB 283 and equipped with fixed echo cancellers. This TMAE function is provided by a new ETU board designated ICAET. These ICAET boards offer two PCM terminations with integrated echo cancellers can coexist on the same site with ICTRQ boards that support conventional PCM terminations. (ii) Impact on operation. Essential equipment if echo canceling to be handled internally Support of the new ETU entity (TYCA=ICAET,SFET=TMAE) in the ETUCR command. No change of circuit group class of service parameters. Change to the MICCR command: Introduction of four new parameters specific to the TMAE function

1) Echo processing time window duration 2) Echo path natural attenuation threshold. 3) EC pointing direction. 4) C bit forcing. - Change to the SMCR command Inclusion of the SAB function type (with or without crossed LR LINKS) To limit the number of configurations, the following technique may be adopted SMT2Gs are filled starting from the first block in ascending order of ETU numbers for the TMICs and from the last block and in descending order for the TMAEs. The interface block can be mixed (ICTRQ and ICAET boards mixed within the block.

Change of list of AFGRX so that: - The 16 GLRs can be listed in ascending order (local to the SMT2G) when the SMT is equipped both ends.

"Unused" GLRs can be indicated: GLRs not fitted in the middle of the SMT2G and one GLR In 2 corresponding to the blocks of four TMAEs. No identified impact in LDCR: the principle of external echo canceling neutralization is extended to neutralize the integrated echo cancellers (TMAE) associated with the channels assigned to data links (neutralization through channel associated signaling). Identified impacts on MLSM and MLURM are limited to the introduction of data concerning the new ETU.

2.1.2 (i)

ACV 11 Board: The ACV11 board is a synchronous transmission interface controller located on the SMM stations terminal bus. It will handle four V.10/V.11 lines simultaneously.

Electrical impedance matching of the signals transmitted and received over the line is in accordance with ITU-T Recommendations V.10/V.11. The V.10 interface is used for control signals. With it, type 1 or 2 category line receivers can be connected. The V.11 interface is sued for data and clock signals. The board can be used to connect to transmission equipment (DCE) providing a clock for receiving and sending data. It does not support direct connection to a DTE, in other words, a clock acceptor. (ii) Impact on Operation Essential equipment if V.11 link to be included. No impact on operation. 2.1.3 4 GB Disk: (Located in ACDDG1AC Card)

In R23, two changes have resulted in major increase in the disk space requirement. These are changes associated with Soft ware downloading and upgrade improvements. Increased capacity of the itemized billing subsystem associated with increased backup time. 4GB disk is essential for buffer file management and the SMM data back up. Impact on Operation

It is not possible to take system back up on single cartridge of 1.2 GB capacity. We have to use more than one cartridge for taking system back up. The back up procedure is described in operation and maintenance head. 2.1.4 (i) ACUTR 5 AB Board: a) ACUTR5AB Board is derivative of ACUTR5 board. The difference is the addition of 2nd memory module, which increases its capacity to 64 MB, b) ACUTR5AB is a processor board with an architrecture based on the 68030 microprocessor and a private memory plane with a size of 64 to 256 Mbytes in 64 Mbyte increments. This board is compulsory to use for R23G level. (ii) Impact on operation

The changes of memory capacity and performance brought about by this board may lead to a rationalized redefinition of the various functional configurations (C.P.M.G) of the OCB 283 system. 2.1.5 (i) ACHIL3 Board: The ACHIL3 board is a unit-dedicated top handling level 2 of the V5.2 protocol for 16 HDLC type signaling links. It belongs to Auxiliary control station (SMA) and is associated: - With the BSM via which it is connected to the station's other agents. - to the switching network via two LA links and associated timing distribution channels.

ELECTRONIC SWITCHING OCB 283 A 001

In an SMA, there can be to four ACHIL3 boards sharing the same LA links. (ii) Impact on operation It is an essential equipment if V5.2 protocol is connected. 2.2. 2.2.1 (i) ANALOGUE SUBSCRIBER FACILITIES: Calling Line identification presentation (CLIP)-DTMF Description:

This Supplementary service (CLIP-A) provides a facility for the transmission of the calling line identity (CLI) number from a terminating local digital exchange to a customer served by an analog access via the emission of DTMF tones. This service may already be provided by the exchange for analogue subscriber in V23 mode. The two modes, V23 and DTMF, must co-exist in an exchange, but are mutually exclusive for a given subscriber. The service must be supplied to analogue subscribers connected via URA, CSE, CSBM V5, 1 and V5.2 (PCM subscribers are excluded: as in the case of V23 mode, this control is carried out at the call handling level and not at the command level). Any incoming calls to a subscriber who has subscribed to the CLIP-A service, trigger the connection of the DTMF frequency equipment to the subscriber line. A special access signaling protocol using DTMF signals is then used to transmit the CLI on the line during the call establishment phase. The subscriber terminal equipment (a demodulator for DTMF decoding) will decode the information and present it for display to the subscriber. (ii) Impact on operation

For the subscription to this service, subscriber needs to be given TY=DTMF and CAT= DIPA using MML command ABOMO The CLIP-A is activated automatically at the subscription. 2.2.2 (i) Calling line identification restriction (CLIR) Description:
Page 5 Issue 1, 26.12/01

BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED ENGINEERING INSTRUCTIONS

ELECTRONIC SWITCHING OCB 283 A 001

The CLIR supplementary service is a facility offered to the calling party to prevent presentation of his identity to the called party. OCB-283 also provides the possibility to override the presentation restriction and have the calling party's number presented, even if CLIR has been invoked. Such ability can be given to the police etc. (ii) Impact on operation The subscription is provided to the subscriber giving CAT=SIDR To override the presentation restriction CAT=OSID is given to the called subscriber. Note: Vide BSNL letter No. 19-29/97-PHM (Pt) Dated 23-10-2001 CLIR facility to Analog subscribers in any type of exchange is deferred. 2.3 (i) ISDN SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICES: Description:

For the user-network interface two types of generic layer 3 signalling protocols have been specified for the control of ISDN supplementary services: the stimulus signalling procedures the functional singalling procedures

Stimulus mode. The terminal is not required to have any knowledge of the supplementary service. Layer 3 signalling messages are generated as a result of an human action (e.g. pressing a button on the keypad).

Functional Mode. The terminal must have knowledge of the supplementary service being invoked and have the associated signaling protocol implemented. OCB-283 was supporting `Functional mode' only till R22. In R23, OCB -283 supports Keypad protocol also which is a ` Stimulus mode' protocol.

2.3.1

Keypad Protocol

It uses the basic call control layer 3 messages, as the transport mechanism for the convey the stimulus information between the terminal and the network. This `Keypad facility' information element is carried - either in a SETUP message - or in an INFORMATION message 2.3.2 Supplementary Services With Keypad Protocol: Dynamic call barring (SRC) Call forwarding busy (CFB) Call forwarding no reply (CFNR) Call forwarding unconditional (CFU) Malicious Call identification (MCID) Advice of the charge during the call (AOC-D) Closed User Group (CUG) Dynamic Call Barring (SRC) ISDN subscribers can have dynamic call barring (SRC) from their equipment for STD/ISD calls in the same way as the analog subscribers. A four digit password can be used by the subscriber to control the barring of the calls. (ii) Impact on operation:

ISDN subscriber is given CAT=SRC to have subscription to Dynamic call barring service. For registration of four digit password and activation / deactivation of the service syntax described in REDA (same as for analog subscribers) is used. Similarly, Call forwarding Services (CFU, CFB and CFNR) can be used (activation/ deactivation) in same way for ISDN subscribers as for analog subscribers using codes described in REDA.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE SMM CHANGES: Support of RTOS 113 Description: In release R23, the SMM changes operating system version to RTOS 113.

Support of RTOS 113 is associated with the availability within this release of new functionalities deemed essential: - The facility to use disks with a capacity greater than 1.2 GBytes. - The facility to convert granule logical disks into files, and therefore the facility to download them via FTAM. - Extension of the checksum function to ASPD objects and patch files. 2.4.2 (i) Multi-Cartridge Back Up Description:

With the introduction of 4 GByte disk in SMM, it is no longer possible to take system backup on one 1.2 GByte data cartridge. As the streamer capacity is still limited to 1.2.Gbyte, multicartridge backup has been made possible. The streamer cartridges used in one backup must have the same capacity. Similarly, backup of one or more logical disks of a particular physical disk to several streamer cartridges is possible. (ii) Impact on operation: Following new commands have been introduced in MML database on WAM: SAVDPX operator command for backing up a physical disk to one or more cartridges. SAVDLX operator command for backing up a set of LDs to one or more cartridges. ABTCMD, operator command for aborting the current back up command. LSTSTR, operator command for displaying the content of a streamer cassette Documentation to be referred: SMOUTIL operating/maintenance sheet- Off-line reload from one or more cartridges. SMDKSV operating/maintenance sheet- back up to several cartridges

Commands Removed: MMSV - Save memory data on disk MMSVX - Subscriber charge meter saving on disk. 2.5 2.5.1 (i) NEW PARAMETERS Parameter DRI Description:

The need for CLI (calling line identification presentation) is increasing in the network because of calls to mobile networks. CLIP for analog subscriber. CLI for calls to ISDN subscribers and detail billing/ticketing for circuit groups etc. It becomes essential to pre collect CLI in order to avoid `No CLI' conditions or call failures in the network due to unavailability of CLI. A new discrimination parameter has been introduced for routings to pre collect CLI. This ` parameter is called DR1 and can be given as discrimination in all Tandem/Transit switches on routings belonging to CCS7 circuit groups. (ii) Impact on operation:

Discrimination DR1 can be given on routings (ACH) belonging to CCS7 circuit groups in Tandem/Transit Switches in the network. 2.6 (i) NEW CALL HANDLING ARCHITECTURE Description:

For the provision of new internal or external services for the sub scribers and circuits, the new call handling architecture based on ITU-TSS (International Telecommunication Standardization Sector) has been introduced. The new architecture provides IN-CSI (Intelligent Network Capability Set no1) functionality and single architecture for subscriber transit and SSP applications. The principle of new architecture (NA) is based on subdivision of the call handling process into an originating call segment and terminating call segment. Now, the MR unit can handle either a complete call or a call segment
Page 10 Issue 1, 26.12/01

BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED ENGINEERING INSTRUCTIONS

ELECTRONIC SWITCHING OCB 283 A 001

MR still handles the complete call in following cases: local non - IN calls originating calls with channel associated signalling terminating calls with channel associated signalling transit calls with channel associated signalling For other than above type of calls new architecture is used. An NA call segment comprises: - a BSG (signaling block) It handles network signaling, it is shared between ML PUPE and PC. There are two models defined: _ BSGo for incoming signalling BSGt. For outgoing signalling. - a BCC (Call control block) It hosts the call handling logic and is located in ML CC (a new ML). It remains independent of signaling function. Two models are defined: BCCo which handles the control of originating call segment (call segment) -BCCt which handles the control of terminating call segment (called segment) When a call has been setup, the BCC contexts are saved. A new entity called BMR has been introduced which is actually a MR block developed in SDL (Specification and Description Language). BMR provides the relay function between the macro-MR program (part of old architecture) and the BCC (part of new architecture). 2.6.1 MLCC MLCC is software machine hosted on SMC. There are two components.

The ML GS comprises a system archive ZGS and a site archive XAGS. 2.7 (i) V 5.2 INTERFACE Description:

The V5.2 interface is for connecting Access Networks (AN) to a local exchange via 2 Mbit/s PCM multiplexes. The exchange is then called a Local Exchange (LE). A V5.2 interface allows up to 16 PCM links to be connected, supporting: - the V5.2 protocol. - subscriber line signaling - calls. Each V5.2 interface is seen in the exchange as an access unit. 2.7.1 Software Architecture

The physical connection is via an SMT2G, but dedicated software machines called MLANs (implemented on the SMA stations) handle the V5.2 protocol. One SMA supports one MLAN. One MLAN can carry several V5.2 interfaces. All signaling flows from one AN are handled by same MLAN. A couple of SMA (MLANa and MLAb) handles a set of ANs. The two SMA share the traffic and are able to carry out the whole traffic if one of them fails. For a given AN one SMA is active and the other is standby. The allocation of the active SMA (MLANa or MLANb) is done when the operator creates the AN. 2.7.2 Services: The services available to the V5.2 subscriber are: switched services available in R23G for analog or digital subscribers. Bearer services which are compatible with the V5.2 interface.

The requirements expressed by different operators associated with predictable short and medium term changes in the Telecom. Networks (carrier selection, portability of numbers between exchanges of a particular operator and between exchanges of different operators) require some extension of the translation resources in the local exchanges and in the transit exchanges. The Changes to be taken into account are: a) b) c) d) e) f) Increase in the size of the analysis files (FIANA) to 32767 analysis blocks Depth of analysis to 16 digits Increase in the number of routings and in the number of lists of routings to 2095. Increase in the size of number storage files (FENU) to 32767 records per FENU. Increase in the size of the record occupancy file (FOCE) to 32767 records. Increase in the number of standardized indexes for type 20 routings, with 255 possible values. g) Facility to create a load sharing routing, ACH, with eight load sharing sub-routings ACHi, each of which has four terminal routings ACHij. h) Increase in the number of circuit group classes of service to 16. These changes must not be introduce any major limitations on translation processor and OM performance (ii) Impact on operation:

The file addressing mechanism in the ARCxx commands has been revised because of the increase in the size of the FIANA, FENU and FOCE files. The OTDLA command now supports routing codes observed on 16 digits (IND).

The routing management commands (ACHxx) and all those which use the "number of routings" parameter take into account the extended number of routings and number of lists of routings These commands are: 2.9 (i) ABOCR, ABOIL, ABOMO ACHAC, ACHCR, ACHIN, ACHMO, ACHSU FILIN, FILMO INDMO, INDCR HACIN, HACMO OTDLA, OTDMO RANIN RNVMO TRHMO INTELLIGENT NETWORK: Description:

The provision of intelligent network services requires the implementation of special cooperative functions and the definition of these cooperation functions has meant that new interfaces had to be described Among these functions, only the SSP and SCP functions are considered here because they are involved in IN call handling. Between the SSP and SCP functions, information is interchanged via the use of the IN-CS1 protocol at application level, which defines the operations and procedures and operations are transmitted by the SS7 "transport" subsystems (or user parts) In R23 release, OCB 283 can perform the functionality of SERVICE SWITCHING POINT (SSP) in IN call handling. It can communicate with SCP on IN CS1 protocol. 2.10 1. 2. OTHER IMPLEMENTATIONS: IN-CS1 Functions This functions is implemented in R23G version of OCB 283 Operations- Billing

TLV format:

Introduction of the SSP function on an LE, retention of the R22F functions in R23G and the changes of parameters ( longer numbers, change to an accuracy of 1/10s for chargeable time, etc) all involve a change to the standard format of the call details (CD) for export. The functions introduced during release R21E/R22E, such as beaconage, will need to be supported in release R23G. The R23G standard format has become a variable format. This new format provides greater open- endedness. The content of the record is rationalized according to the useful data to be sent. For performance reasons (number of records that need to be sent per second by the exchange), it has become necessary to increase the capacity of the billing subsystem. Similarly, for performance reasons, the exchange needs to take account of new record grouping situations (DCA + circuit detailed billing + DCD and DCA + circuit detailed billing). The standard 42 byte export format for detailed billing is replaced by TLV format of Alcatel standard CD records. But the standard 42 byte format must be retained for customer applications that cannot support the new R23G format (Alcatel Standard TLV format) The size of the disk block for the YFDT buffer passes from 2 to 16KB. The size of the band blocks remains at 2 KB and that the session blocks depend on a country specific information ( 2KB or 16KB). (ii) Data Back Up: The DATSV command now has the following parameters added: DASV = BURM data modifiable by the subscriber, DASV = BUR site (office) data, DASV = TAX charge meters, DASV = TAXC charge meters with control, DASV = FDAT non-catalogue data, DASV = CTRL catalogue control,

The MMSV and MMSVX commands are now deleted, as are MMCOP, MMRAZ, FICIN and FRMxx. 3. Traffic Performance & Regulations

The objectives concern the twin aspects of switching system performance: dependability, the aim of which is to ensure continuity of service in the event a failure, and traffic handling, which embraces the processing capacity of the system and its connection capability (mainly in terms of subscriber lines and telephone circuits). Also, on a functional level, release R23G is a 100% multi service exchange (fixed subscriber calls, mobile subscriber calls, transit calls, In-service access). The performance objectives in R23G fall into two categories: a) Performance objectives relating to typically multi service environments, in other words, comprising fixed subscribers, mobile subscribers and transit calls, and handling the IN for each of these calls types. These objectives shall be such that performance statements can be made in reference multi service environments. b) Performance objectives in the main reference environments currently recognized: 100% fixed subscriber exchange 100% mobile subscriber exchange Transit exchange. For each of these, the main parameters that can be varied are: rate of access to an IN server, ranging from 0 to 100%, and percentage of No7 signalling. Impact on Operation: - Not applicable. Traffic Regulation: A set of overload control mechanisms known as Regulation Mechanisms are implemented in the OCB 283 R23G system to protect against exceptional overloads. 4. a) b) 5. Change of translation Processor Interface (MR/ISC-TR) The change has been implemented such that It provides sufficient open- ended ness to support future changes without attendant reworks. Not to destabilize existing processes (this mainly concerns the macro MR) GSM -RS Functions
